'Swashbuckling West Indies opener Chris Gayle will turn up for five matches for Barisal Burners in the ensuing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Arguably the best Twenty20 batsman Gayle was scheduled to play two matches for Barisal Burners but much to the delight for the franchise, Chris Gayle confirmed that he would play five matches, said Sabik Rahman, director of Alif Group. “We will get his service for five matches of the tournament. He will play from the starting of the league,” Sabik Rahman told The Independent. “It is really an added advantage for us to get him for the five matches instead of two,” he added. Barisal Burners bought him from the franchise open auction of the BPL with a staggering amount of US$5.51 lakh, which was the second highest bidding price after Pakistani Shahid Afridi. Interestingly Royal Challengers Bangalore also retained him with an amount of US$ 5.50 lakh in the IPL players’ auction on Saturday. Chris Gayle is scheduled to arrive in the country either on February 8 or 9. '
