Default Shabbir Ahmed reported for suspect bowling action

Cricket chiefs have revealed that Pakistan paceman Shabbir Ahmed has been reported for a suspect bowling action.

The report was made by umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Bowden after reviewing footage of the fifth and final one-day international against New Zealand.

"Over the next six weeks Ahmed and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have the opportunity to work on any areas of concern," ICC boss David Richardson.

"Ahmed will be able to continue to play during this time."

A PCB spokesman confirmed the report, adding: As per the rules we will work on Shabbir's action after the team's return from New Zealand on Wednesday."

Ahmed was reported twice by ICC match officials in 1999 after one-day tournaments in Toronto and Sharjah.
