I am just dumbfounded by this decision. A-team tours are mainly for giving upcoming players some experiences at a level higher than domestic circuits. What can a player with Mashud's experience and age gain from playing cricket at this level ?

If the selectors want to keep Mashud match fit, asking him to keep playing in NCL would have been good enough, (as Sadi says) stronger teams don't give harder edges. If it is concerning his batting, Mashud's form with bat at this point is so poor that he rarely goes beyond single digit scores against local teams nowadays, what good can he do for A-team with this kind of form ?

Most importantly, according to Prothom-Alo, DW requested Mashud be left out of the national team largely because he is a distraction to other players in the team. Since A-team is entirely made of players in their early twenties or even below twenty, Pilot's presence may be more harmful to this bunch (especially since they are touring another country) than it could have been to national team.
