Auntu bhai, I am not sure how much you know about salafism, but if you don't know much, then I would say please try to know.

To be honest, Salafism is not any sect. It simply emphasizes following Islam, the deen, the way the first three generations of Islam, the noble companions of our prophet, the Tabeins and Tabe-tabeins have followed. Also Salafism is against all sorts of innovations in Islam.

To have a clear idea about Salafism, I encourage you to read the following three articles:

Actually, most of the time we tend to say "I am right, my group is right and that group is wrong". This is actually the sense of "OTHERNESS". Each person, group has its respective other. For Sunnis, the other is Shias; for Protestants, the other is Catholics; for the children, the other is adults and so on.

When I try to point out the wrongness of an "Other" group, I study as much as possible to understand them. Now that I have posted these links, most people won't read, rather will keep singing whatever they had in their mind.

Sorry TE bhai for deviating your thread from its original purpose, but just to remind you, there is a chance that you might say prayer behind a Salafi imam. Shaykh Abdur Rahman Al Sudais, who is currently the head imam of Grand Mosque (Masjid Al Haram), is a salafi. Similarly, many other imams of Madinah are also Salafi. So, to remove the uneasiness for your mind about Salafism, I would also request you to read those articles.
