Wisden overview
The 2004 Under-19 World Cup was a tournament that lacked firepower, although Bangladesh's Shahadat Hossain Rajib was a notable and extremely welcome exception. He was discovered during a talent-spotting camp in Narayanganj and whisked away to the Bangladesh Institute of Sports (BKSP) for refinement, and after being given his first international exposure during the tournament, he was rapidly called up for the Bangladesh A team. Shahadat has all the necessary attributes for a genuine fast bowler. He is tall, comes in off a smooth run-up, and doesn't put unnecessary pressure on his body with his slightly open-chested angular delivery position. He has a strong frame and endurance in abundance. He is naturally aggressive and above everything, has raw pace. If he maintains his development, he could be a godsend for Bangladesh in the coming years.

Bangla Cricket Profile::
If the elite Test status marks the begining of a new era for Bangladesh cricket, then Kazi Shahadat Hossain Rajib must be the first brainchild of this grand transcendence. Never before in the history of Bangladesh cricket, a youngster has been endowed with so much passion, diligence and devotion by the authority for the prospect of the future. BCB seems to be that much determined to care and polish the diamond this time around after the botched attempts with Mashrafe and Talha.

The six feet three tearaway hails from Narayanganj. He was placed in the BKSP for refinement in a great hurry following his discovery during a talent hunt. National High Performance Manager and U19 coach Richard McInnes himself then took over the daunting task to shape him up for the highest stage bit by bit, inch by inch.

The adorable teenager, dubbed as the fastest bowler in Bangladesh to date, in his first international exposure, made quite a repercussion with his raw fire power in the under 19 World Cup, 2004 as he routinely produced explosive deliveries in excess of 145 kmph in his salvos. As a geniune fast bowler mingled with a tall & strong frame, seemingly natural aggression and a smooth run up, he builds up nerve wracking sent-downs aimed at the batsmen's throat with religious regularity.

"Take it from me he is a genuine fast bowler... He will be a real asset for Bangladesh if we handle him carefully" said a buoyed and excited McInnes.

Fans are excited alike in licking chops for the day when Rajib will gang up to flex biceps with Mashrafe, Sharif and Talha to rattle through the opposition for years to come.
I had no idea he was this good. Excellent, another very good fast bowling prospect. Sure would like to some video clips of him bowling if anyone has them.
