Don't confuse swing bowling with medium pace bowling! Fast bowlers can swing the ball - just less, which is better at high speeds. Anderson, Steyn, Sidebottom, Johnson, Lee, Bond, Akthar, Asif, Broad, etc etc etc.. all bowl over 140 and all swing the ball. Some of them bowl over 150 and swing the ball.

Coaches say 'hit the deck' because they want a bowler to be aggressive and not just 'put' the ball on a length. Swinging the ball still requires you to bowl hard at the length you want and not just float it.

So swing bowling is a requirement of ALL new ball bowlers! Shafiul, Rubel and Nasmul all swing the ball....
