Default Cricket in Olympics

International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge has voiced his support in favour of an ICC bid to have cricket regain it's status as an Olympic sport.

The International Cricket Council are set to decide at the end of the month whether they will apply to have a Twenty20 competition included at the 2020 Olympic Games. The sport has appeared at the Olympics only once, when Britain claimed gold against France in the 1900 final. Rogge - a self-confessed cricket fan - has welcomed the interest from the game's governing body.

"The ICC will decide at the end of June whether they will make an application," said the Belgian. "The incoming president might be interested. We would welcome an application.

"It's an important, popular sport and very powerful on television. It's a sport with a great tradition where mostly you have a respect of the ethics. In the Olympics, it will not be Test cricket, of course."

"It's tactically interesting, a game of patience, a game of great skills and the only sport where, after five days, you can draw!"
