I refuse to believe this was anything but a armed robbery gone wrong, and they are the victims of sheer depravity of some animals.
As Shaad bhai asks....none of them were involved in investigative reporting as such...in Bangladesh, Politics/crime/drugs are the three main issues you'd think would endanger a journo.
Yet none of them fit the bill.
Obviously sad beyond words, and you feel for the orphan, but this should not be looked at as an attack on journalism or journalists. So people need to go easy with that angle.
