The Official Everything About Shafiul Islam Thread
I just feel that we would need this thread a lot from now on. He gets good potential. I have a feeling that he will bring Indian batsmen down to their knees.

I watched the footage of SHafiul. He has good pace. In the deliveries that he offered alot of width were smacked for fours. Some of his deliveries to the left hander were pretty good becuase they went away for them. Too many of his balls strayed on to the pads which is just a gimme in International cricket.

I don't understand why BD can't find a decent pacers..the way he got smacked I doubt he can do anything in tests..His run up is like slow medium pacer

who cares about speed. THe point is that he is still young. He needs to play consistently in the NCL, DPL, first-class, and List A before you can play in the TEst teams. THat's how it should go. Players in AUstralia usually debut in their mid-20s. Mitchell Johnson debut at age 26.
BCB just pusts young prospects in the national team and when they fail they are thrown aside. That destroys a player's moral and esteem. Then they try to get better and never seem to succeed.

it's alright to put youngsters in there is they're given the proper support whilst there and once they're not. they try young prospects, the prospect fails to deliver then they're dropped and no one helps them. there needs to be proper support to develop these players if they can't make it during their first run in the national team. sajidul islam for example has been treated horribly and he's a terrific prospect, but then even the national team pacers don't get the proper support so i supposed you can't expect the rejects to get it until the national teamers get it.
i haven't seen talha bowl but he's doing pretty well nowadays, if he returns to the national team and succeeds he could become a big inspiration to young pacers who have been thrown aside.

didn't realize the young lad was so quick...139 k on mirpur wickets is going to be 145k (90 mph) on english tracks...certainly faster than anyone from either SL or India in teh tri series, and i think quicker than rubel himself (who hit 138 or 139 as his highest from what i saw).

lol you're confusing me again...isn't the speed measured ''off the hand'' rather than ''off the pitch''?

no wickets retain pace more...fast tracks yield more elastic collisions between ball and pitch, i.e less energy lost as heat and sound.
in england rubel crack 148k, nowhere near that speed in BD - fastes today 144.
in OZ, aamer is hitting 150+, nowhere near that speed in pakistan - fastest 146.
so rubel would likely be nearing 150 or exceeding it on the same wicket where ishant hit 153 or whatever - hardly hits 140 these days.

almost got his First Test Wicket .....
31.1: Shafiul Islam to Tendulkar, FOUR, Dropped Imrul Kayes at first slip, the ball gets a little high on Tendulkar as he tries to steer it through the off side, thick outside edge and Kayes falls to his left, cups his hands and deflects it for four

I was very impressed with the way he bowled before lunch yesterday...he really deserves a wicket.

Rubel was bowling at 87mph easily today but he lacks bounce. But when he wants to bounce he can but he loses his pace.
Shafiul bowls at 83mph avg decent bounce for a guy who aint that tall he n rubel same height. Shafiul has good inswing (outswing for LHB) he needs to learn outswing for RHB.
He needs to get a bit of meat in him and become aggressive.
Shahadat bowled at around 80mph avg .... He was bounce and can vary his pace and length accordingly and has ability to reverse swing at times.

Rubel can bowl much faster than what he was bowling yesterday. I remember rubel hit 92 before in BD. Rubel can probably bowl 96 in English tracks. Excited to see him overseas.
