The Mominul Haque Thread
Congratulations to Mominul for being selected to the national team. I believe he has a bright future, but only time will tell whether he has what it takes to succeed in international cricket.

Good thread Shuja bhai He has been pretty consistent Alhamdulillah throughout the last two years in home, away tours alike...there is no other better time than now to debut him since i feel he has had decent exposure to foreign conditions. Let's wait and see what happens. All the best Mominul

His game appears more suited toward test cricket. His list A average is only 14.37 and the SR is 51.56. His SR was better in the recent BCB XI matches.

Anamul too has a List A average of 16.28 but you should know by now that the defunct NCL one-day league is the only domestic tournament that has List A status. The far superior DPL matches are not counted as List A and Mominul has done very well in the DPL in the last couple of seasons. I personally am much more confident of Mominul succeeding in this series than Anamul. Imrul too deserved to be in the squad ahead of a lot of the guys selected. Zia too.

I saw him at BPL played very well! but having too many newcomers in our 11 will just confirm we are going to lose the first 2 ODIs.

Why? For not being able to score in the preparation matches?
Sometimes it takes time to settle down in international cricket. There has been a player called "Rahul Dravid" who couldn't score much in his first few international matches. But he ended his career as one of the all time greats.
Give Anamul sometime to settle down. He is here to stay.

I hope you are correct and I might change my mind when I see him bat on TV. Because when Nasir made his debut even though his technique wasn't great, I loved his attitude, he had this aura about him that said, I m here to stay. Sometimes you have to see a player with your own eyes to judge him. So yeah Anamul can impress me yet. But from what I have seen and felt, my expectations have been drastically reduced

Don't forget that Dravid was among the hardest workers in the game. We don't yet have anyone in the team in that mold.

Not only dravid players like Amla faced thousands of delivery indoors by himself to perfect his technique against the short ball, worked with the computer analyst and plotted swan's demise. These are what you call players not someone who goes home and works hard to make a bhuri. Anamul has a lot of potential no doubt but has to figure out his own weaknesses and work on them.

Its so important that Mominul, Anamul, Shohag, Abul etc do well in this series. if some of these players are successfull, it will open the gate for other new players in the team, and suddenly all national players (new or old) will have to fight to retain their positions.

In fact most of the time, the new comers needs a little bit time to settle down... That's primarily the reason, you don't put in too many debutants at the same time in the team. So, if you give all the time to everyone fairly, the entire team needs the time,,,which sometimes isn't possible, so it works against the new comers. They get treated with impatience for the Need of the team.
We have had such mass debut in the past as well, and every time the team was in mess and we needed to give them time.....
Hope this time it's a different story....although the brain tells me to learn from the past.
New players to watch: Anamul, Momnul, Shohag, Abul..... If Nasir, Sunny can be considered to be settled.

Anamul has a fc avg of over 40 and Mominul 30. Anamul will take time but he will hopefully shine.

Recently all the debutantes made huge impacts for us (Nasir, Sunny, Gazi, Abul ). Expecting the same from Anamul/Mominul

Mominul has a problem is getting good start. Either he scores big or gets out early. I hope he will fix this issue with time.

@WW, not taking a dig at Anam, like Dark, I wanna see him bat first before I judge. But in that Dravid sense, ash should be back in the team in no time. Not everyone's Dravid

I have the same opinion. Dark said that Anamul won't shine. I wrote that post in that regards. Every new comer in the team should get fair amount of chance. 1/2 practice match doesn't mean anything.

Mominul ki korbe???? he's quiet inconsistent......have 30 odd average in FC is showing the class....even when he played in BPL....he's quiet shaky kind of batsman.....But whatever!!!!! all the best to him. Again we've gone to 8 batsman theory...again we exclude nazmul......This Akram is a dumb believe me.

Don't forget that he is selected in place of Shakib. Thus, he does not have a big shoe to fill.
