I don't understand why Naeem Islam makes it into the XI. If a Test century can ensure you places in all three formats or even two, then that's a serious issue. Naeem himself has said that he has worked hard to become a Test batsman by limiting his range of shots.

He did not. And that's yet another reason why he should not be picked even if he manages to cope with ODIs.

The squad looks kind of okay, inclusion of Naeem is a bit strange since he was picked as a test specialist. Would have liked Imrul though. It looks like Mominul is going to debut before Anamul, even though he was the one we were all talking about.

only consolation is that we don't have any walking wickets in this line up like Junaid and Nafees

The team looks weak without Shakib. He was equal to five men's worth.

If Neem is indeed selected, most likely to make up some of Sakib's bowling, while Mominul is supposed to make up some of Sakib's bowling.

No one can replace a player of Shakib's calibre, let alone Bangladesh. So instead you should pick the best batsman/bowler available. Selectors have effed up big time by picking Naeem and Riyad in the same squad. Add Jahirul, and you have an exceedingly weak top order. This team won't be able to chase anything more than 220 and WI have a line-up that on this Khulna track can pound 350 with ease.

We're going to lose by 150 runs or 12+ wickets (Naeem and Riyad's strike rates mean they are batting for the WI).

Good thing I won't be able to watch this lame excuse for a cricket match.

Yet we pick Abul to play the role of strike bowler. Seriously, when will we just give up and hit the danguli fields? We don't deserve to play international cricket, ICC should relegate us and bring Ireland in.

Sure, Naeem or anybody else, nobody can replace Shakib as a whole package. So that logic can be applied to anybody ... not only to Naeem.

Bowling wise, I may be the minority here, but Naeem is under estimated. last time I saw him in ODI he was bolwing as well as Razzak and Shakib.

In short term, Run Rate wise, don't expect Anamul and/or Mominul will be any better than Naeem or Ryiad. Specially Anamul; he will struggle with the RR in his first few games. Zia is the exception. So we are doomed anyway with or without Naeem and/or Ryiad.

The only good thing about the ICC's [unfortunate] inaction and disregard for Irish and Afghan cricket is that it also means they don't care to remove Bangladesh!

Bowling is Naeem's only strong suit for this format...even then he's still just a part timer who will get max of 1-2 wickets. He won't win matches, but he can help to win a match.

However, we're not looking short term. Therefore picking Anamul and Mominul as part of the future was the right move over Naeem Riyad Jahirul. Later three are proven failures, OK maybe Jahirul hasn't had an extended run but Anamul and Mominul deserve it more. And for sure in hindsight the selection of SN and JS over Anamul in the Test series now looks retarded.

Other than Omi, no remarkably crappy batsman in the team. Whether anyone performs and contributes is another story. My expectations:

1. Tamim 25-70
2. Omi 10-30
3. Shourobh 30-40
4. Nayeem 30
5. Nasir 50
6. Mushfiq 35
7. Riyad 35*
8 Gazi 10-25
9. Mashrafe 10-20
10. Rex 0-10
11. RBX 5-10

Seems like Omi is way too underrated? He's far too inconsistent for my liking, but still could help in building a good partnership at decent RR. Naeem in ODIs? You gotta be shittin me, right? I'd have Anamul in for Naeem.

Tamim
Jahirul
Naeem
Mahmudullah
Mominul
Nasir
Mushfiqur+*
Mashrafe
Gazi
Razzaq
Rubel

Looks decent, but still no Shakib messes the whole team up

Don't think it's final XI, isn't a final XI always confirmed at match day? Think it's just a speculation.
