Dear Ali Zia : This is how the aussies learn how to play fast bowling.....
Not cricket balls but hard tennis balls known as “slag balls” were the missiles used for such practice sessions. And, here’s the zip-kick: they are not bowled but swotted into the ground at varying speeds and lengths with a tennis racket. This means that a batsman facing a series of balls does not know the height, speed and line at which they will come at him. He has to learn to adjust and to pull out of the hook or pull if the ball is too close to his inner-side, et cetera, et cetera. He will be hit from time to time. But can bat without fear of injury.

A few days back, read it on paper that South Africans (not the cricketers - locals) use a tennis ball (a tennis ball with all its hair cut) and so the ball goes to the batsman even faster and pitches anywhere which means that the batsman always have to guess and be prepared for anything - and I mean anything. It also gets rid of the fear of facing fast balls.

I prefer to use a bowling machine but the balls they use aren't quite as hard as a cricket ball but they're still not soft
