Default Only "one" can play: Siddons

After this comment there was an outcry from the AAA fanbase. I know it was a AA but that was a preview on what is in store if we get Aftab and Ash in the lineup together.

Like SN, Aftab proved he is no better than the ones who had hold down the fort while they were gone. Hopefully we will be back to our normal XI in the next ODI.

Barabing barabong!! Swing and a miss!!

For me "none" should play!! They need to prove in the domestic (picnic) league first.

aftab deserves a chance in the ODI series, instead of ashraful. twenty20 performance does not have same value as ODI performance.

Cannot agree brother, it was a T20 match. He got no practice after arriving in NZ and last few games he played was on a slow low track using a red cherry. The failiure was bound to happen. All the batsmen failed. Aftab anyday over Raqib.

For T20s AAA should play no question. AA weren't the ones responsible for today's embarrassment. And without AAA we would not have beaten West Indies our only major victory in T20. However for ODIs and Tests I agree that at the moment one is enough.

Aftab, Nazimuddin, these are not basic smart/intelligent kids/players! They will not succeed in cricket! Without intelligence and hard work (and I think people who work hard are inherently intelligent as they know deep down that there is no alternative to hard work in the world, in everything, every aspact of life) ....So Aftab, Nazimuddin and even Ash aho are not intelligent will suffer, too bad.

IMO, Al Hasan now can be considered part of the talented but reckless triple A club, as far as batting concerned.

I wonder who will be the next member. Anamul Haque?

It pains me to see Siddons and co. neglect and ridicule the newest format of the game and in doing so, our country as well.

However, This one T20 is not enough to write Aftab off. Putting in SN in the 1st test was a mistake, as was yanking him after only one match. Picking SN for 'spin playing' and then drop him at #3 after early wickets? Having Kayes sit out the T20 was a mistake and it will be a mistake to yank Aftab after this one match.

The team selection should really be thought out, not based on whom Sid has an *ahem* affection for.

1.Tamim : But as an inning builder, partner should be the aggressor
2. Kayes (Tri series gave some positive starts though Kayes was shaky. Give him the first ODI at least)
3. Aftab
4. Mahmadullah (can be a sensible batsman and accelerate when set)
5. Naeem (seems to partner will with Mahmadullah)
6. Shakib (Hopefully at 4 down he will be removed from the PP overs and can set himself before he gives it away in the batting PP a la match vs. India)
7. Ash (let him capitalize on the batting PP with a license to do what he wants. Hopefully Vettori's 10 will be done by the time he gets in)
8. Mushfiq
9. Razzak/Shahadat (based on the pitch)
10. Shafiul
11. Nazmul

It was a bad idea to bring back SN and Aftab in the first place. These players were technically deficient; we needed to play them because we did not have better alternatives a few years ago. ICL did a big favour to BD cricket, and subsequently opened the door for the young cricketers. This was rightly justified and I thought SN and Co. would become past memories. I was wrong.
I do not like players who need to make space to play strokes, especially if he is a specialist batsman. This leaves stamps unguarded and shows technical inability to play strokes with good defence. Ash and Aftab have been guilty of doing that.
We need to continue to replace players who are technically deficient and have not got the right temperament to play cricket after giving a reasonable number of matches.

Aftab should be given a chance. Ash should bat 7 down and boom boom a bit.

Ya, the build up of the game was not with us because of lack of practice and time. But still slogging across the line the way Aftab did was pathetic. In para level cricket, people also bat with more decency than that. That approach does not have anything to do with practicing in NZ.

SN should not have played in the 1st XI in that test. He proved himself in domestic ODIs, selected in ODI team, but was played in the test XI, now dropped from ODI as well. Don't know what was selectors' plan there. Dropping from all forms after only 1 test.

Same goes with Aftab. After that "Ugly" display in T20, now he should not be dropped from ODI team. Though I have every doubt about Aftab after seeing his performance yesterday, still I say, don't drop him before testing him in ODI.

Why? While I agree Ashraful is useless in Tests, but in ODIs he has become more consistent, look at his last 4 tournaments, he has scored atleast one 50+ score in each of those tournaments, whereas he only scored a 50 in 12 matches, he is more consistent now. Aftab can never score fifties or hundreds, he can only score 30 runs in each game and then gets out. We dont need that

Nazimuddin was a pure fluke and Aftab would remain like this.
So to me end of story.

Dont u mean #7? aka 5 down??
anways, he can only do boom boom if we keep wickets in hand, and only go 5down after 35 overs.
i think either ONE of riyad or naeem should be promoted to top order, top order being #3 to #6 batsman. and we should leave the other at #8 to make use of batting PP, presuming that the batting PP is taken in the latter overs offcourse

anyhow, mash would have been sucha useful bating PP player....

It would be really unfair to compare Aftab with Nazim though... as much brainless as Aftab is, he is 100 times better technically than Nazim.

I'm not comparing Aftab with Nazim. I wanted to say Aftab would keep on batting what he is doing at present.

Performing in this serie should be mandatory for the non performing players...not sure who will be chosen for final 11, but most of top orders should get a warning if they make the same mistakes..regardless they have record playing lots of intl matches, or have solid defense, or can play strokes or used to be a promising openner...at present moment all the reputations are fading away when team and country need the most
