Default dont always look at the negatives

We have all talked about how hopeless our chances are in the t20 world cup looking at the horrible performance of our national batsmen in the NCL t20. Sure, Ash, Aftab, Naeem, Mahmudullah and Shakib are our main batters and they have failed miserably. Only Tamim and Imrul has shined but Tamim is injured. Batting wise we are screwed. But look at our bowling. No one seems to look at that. Below is the list of the top 15 wicket takers in the NCL t20 and it includes all 6 of our strike bowlers with Mashrafe heading the list. West Indies pitches are very favorable for us and may help us a lot.
Something positive from the NCLt20 is that our bowlers are back in form.

The bowlers' figures are so good because most of our batsmen are imcompedent. It's as simple as that. I don't put much importance in those bowling figures.

Do you really think that against the Aus and Paki batsmen that our bowlers could have a similar average? Even if we keep those teams to a respectable 140 - 160 runs, our bowlers won't have that kind of economy rates.

T20 cricket is a game for batsmen and if our batsmen can't score, we're doomed.

I do agree that some of our bowlers looked pretty good during the NCL, but I think it's more because of the lack of quality batting than quality bowling, but I hope our bowling and batting clicks during the T20 World Cup and we have some success.

give the bowlers some credit, and the batsmen some slack. Look at the Mirpur Pitch. It wasnt great. It suited the bowlers, and hence bowlers did well. IN the PCL the batsmen did pretty well, and except fr ash, aftab i dont the batsmans looked TOTaly hopelees.. Shakib was plain stupid, he looked quite in the final. Nayeem played well, so did tamim, nt sure abut imrul thgh...i didnt see a single bouncer directed at his neck.

Bowling well in our domestic level and international level are same?

Well, this is an optimistic thread so I hope our national bowlers will continue performing well. Good Luck

Well, when the batsmen are doing bad, the bowling figures will automatically look good. Among your listed bowlers, Rafique is the best; but not in the team. Ashraful will not bowl, Mashrafe will be punished heavily by competent batsmen and only Shakib might get some respect.

I read that WI is having a drought, so that the wickets will be hard and slow, so fast bowlers will have to work hard. It will be spin friendly wickets, so let's hope all the spinners have some luck.
BD has about 2 front line spinners and about 3 part timers.

the barbados pitch should be hard and bouncy, as per tradition.

gros islet could be spin friendly

Nice post G_B. However, T20 is more about batting than bowling. If our batsmen are not keen in turining 1 to 2s, 2s to 3s, Looking for the gap for occasional boundaries, hit sixes at regular intervals, how can we win a match. Last year, we lost to Ireland for poor batting. This year, our batsmen hape to cope up with Aussie paceman, and score more than that by their mighty batsmen.
Our bowlers last year were also poor, especially Rubel. His figures against India was 49 runs for 1 wicket in 4 overs. If he had given away 20 runs less, we could have won not only because the target was also less, the pressure would also be the best. It would be BETTER to keep asside Shafiul and Rubel, they are not ready for the WC.

For people who are saying that bowling well in the local league is far different than bowling well in an international tournament then same could be said about batting. If our batters had done well, there is no guarantee they would do well in an international tournament. These local leagues are confidence builders and although our batters could not take advantage of this and get on a confident run of form, our bowlers have done that and we should take notice of that and be a bit more hopeful about our chances. And who says bowlers are not important in T20, in the ipl, the bowlers, especially the spinners(our main strength) have been the top performers, top wicket takers are spinners and slow bowlers. And in the low slow pitches of West Indies, if our bowlers bowl at a nagging line and length, who knows we could easily strangle the Pakistanis for runs and put them under pressure. Bowling is also very important for T20 and our bowlers have taken advantage of NCLT20 and have gotten into some sort of form and confidence.

Positives? My postive predictions are as follows:

# of BD official sent minus any other teams officials => positive
Run scored by any BD opponent minus BD runs scored against them => positive
Opponents run rate minus BD run rate => positive
Precieved potentials of BD palyes minus actual performace => positive
# number of games won minus games lost => positive

Cricket is more about scoring more runs than your opponent rather than taking wickets
