Yes, he will bring more money, along with more scandals. It's like ethics in business - through ethical misconduct, you will only gain temporarily, but in the long term your company will lose respect, stakeholders, and the cash. You can see the damage to India's reputation already. I don't want our cricket to fall into that pit of shame, where the world considers our board criminal.

on a serious note: is there any such rumour on Modi ?? I don't think even he will consider any such proposal in his dreams. BCB doesnt have the budget to even make him think.

I'm of course 100% against putting any subcontinental management in BCB, they all are too much into politics & corruption. They don't know thinking & working stratigt ...... NO A BD guy will be much cheaper and be equally in efficient, so I would stick to them instead of other subcontinental guys.

I do NOT give any sort of credit to Mr. Modi as he has stollen the (IPL) idea from ICL.

Mr Lolit Modi is a capable businessman and I believe our cricket can benefit immensely from a person of his marketing & entrepreneurial competence! For a country like ours where the Cricket Academy can't run due to lack of finance, he could have been the perfect BCB CEO to generate the cash our cricket needs. As of his dishonesty and ethical issues, there are enough of these types around the BCB already - it could have been nice to have a competent one for a change! Not that it will happen anyway, the guy is a multi-millionaire himself.

Capable businessman is a fraud and suspended by BCCI.

Yes, he is a prefect fit for our corrupt board. Why can't we see who voted for Yes?

^ But he has done nothing but good for Indian cricket with this IPL. Not only that. Players from all over the world benefited from IPL. Dont care if he is a fraud, he cant be worse then who we have.

I voted yes!

Thumbs down Criminal Convictions - Lalit Kumar Modi, Duke University, North Carolina, extortion, kidnapping, Attempted Murder, Cocaine Traficking & Selling

Criminal convictions

On March 1, 1985, while a sophmore at Duke University, Modi was arrested on charges of conspiracy to traffic cocaine and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. On April 2, 1985, Modi and another student were indicted on second-degree kidnapping, a misdemeanor charge of assault inflicting serious injury and conspiracy to kidnap.[12] Modi pleaded guilty to the crime when the case was heard in the Durham County court, North Carolina and later entered a plea bargain, which resulted in a suspended two year prison sentence.[13] Modi moved the court again in 1986 after he graduated from Duke University, he sought permission to move to India on health grounds. The court ordered: "As a fact the defendant has been hospitalized. His doctors indicate that a return to his home in India would facilitate his recovery… The said probation be modified to unsupervised probation. As a condition, the defendant is to perform 200 hours of community service by 1990. He may return to his home…"[13]

An article in Tehelka magazine alleges that Modi was involved in a court case for cocaine abuse as recently as 2006 in the UAE.[13]

Lack of moral foundation and the subsequent ethical relativism is quite prevalent amongst many of our kind. Explains why we are where we are as a nation relative to where we could or should be. "Reacting", rather than "responding" to a bad situation by bending the law adds to the initial problem of lawlessness, and is totally counterproductive as the means to an end, however noble it may be. Then again with so many folks coming from black money themselves in our midst, such disgusting acceptability of corruption is hardly surprising.

But can you equate a corrupt, previously drug dealing, gun-toting businessman to being "Kana" ?

He may bring in $100m to our cricket, however, he will probably siphon out $150m, and he will have left BCB by the time you notice that $50m is missing....
