Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club's Serbian coach Zoran Kraljevic's contract has been terminated, reportedly over selection of the starting eleven on the eve of their Bangladesh League opener against holders Abahani yesterday.
Trainer Davor Berber, who is also a Serbian, also met the same fate.
"The chapter of two Serbians is closed and they are expected to fly home tomorrow [Tuesday] as we failed to reach a consensus on certain issues," said Sheikh Jamal president Manjur Kader after his side played out a goalless draw against the champions.
"It [the disagreement] may relate to financial matters or the selection process," replied Kader when asked about the reason behind such decision.
Kraljevic and Berber were assistants to former Bangladesh national coach Zoran Djordjevic and took over at Sheikh Jamal at mid-September on a six-month contract and guided the club to runners-up finish in the Federation Cup.
After losing to Abahani 5-3 in the Fed Cup final, the club officials criticised Kraljevic's team selection and took away his power in the selection process.
It was learnt that the problem surfaced Sunday night when the team management pushed for Wali Faisal and Alexander Sujdovic to be in the starting line-up and Kraljevic refused to accept that.
Following the incident, Kraljevic and Berber stayed back at the hotel and assistant coach Mohammad Rafi was given the responsibility of guiding the team.
It was also gathered that a group of senior players played key role to pursue the team management to take such decisio
