West Indies in Bangladesh 2011

Gayle fears mushroom uprising

September 26, 2011

Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Dwayne Bravo will not feature in the West Indies squads for the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. In an press conference Chris Gayle disclosed his manic (and phobic) fear towards culture of shaggy mushroom Coprinus comatus which he believes is plotting a mass uprising in many rural areas of Bangladesh for a worldwide outgrowth.

Shaggy mushroom or the shaggy ink cap, lawyer's wig, or shaggy mane according to Wikipedia is a common fungus often seen growing on lawns, gravel roads and waste areas. Sources cite that the first sprout was in a small vista in Naranyanganj where the young fruit bodies first appeared as white cylinders emerging from the ground, with a bell-shaped cap protruding out. The caps are reported to be white, and covered with scales hence the reason for their common name. The gills are white, then pink, then turn black and secrete a black liquid filled with spores (hence the “ink cap” name). This mushroom is unusual because it will turn black and dissolve itself in a matter of hours after being picked or depositing spores.

Gayle has not played for West Indies since the 2011 World Cup, following a breakdown in his relationship with the board. He attributes his fear first seen in the popular cartoon series Smurfs in an episode where the mushrooms raised a mutiny among the populace gradually eating them and clawing their way through hamlets and river banks and finally growing all over the town.

Chris Gayle believes minority groups in the mushroom population are conspiring to raise an uprising shall he launch his foot on Bangladesh soil. These mushroom are known to harvest through process of cellular automaton of Wolfram Rule 10 and by dripping inks from their body they can stun their preys and are easily a favorite specimen for weapons of mass destruction.

Gayle the explosive batsman who last participate in the IPL in April after being left out of a training camp ahead of Pakistan series warned that the threat is serious and Bangladesh government need to take serious measures to offset a potential world wide plague.
