These lines are really sad and heart touching. Civilized citizens are leaving our country. On the other hand, I want to go back and help my fellow countrymen.

You are not alone, there is always some people around you. Those 'fellow countryman' are not leaving, they dont have place/strength to leave.

Professionals came abroad in large numbers from India until the new millennium. But, now many are returning home. I have though about going back many times, but finally decided not to after considering it for some time. Financially, I will not be worse off in BD, but money is only a part of the equation.

Perhaps, I should look to do something where I grew up. Dhaka is definitely out!

To Our Friend

You were enjoying your life with us
In our hearts, in our minds
In the air, in the forest, in the blue sky
You were in our music, in our songs
In our heroics, in our traditions.

You showed us the open sky
But you tried to see the same sky
In your last days, you were all alone
Suffering in pain, no one was around you again.

How heartless they were, when you were sick
And were looking for someone who was on your peak
That’s the ruthless life, just bones no flesh
Swayed by greed, negligence and clash.

Where is my friend, who is lying in the ground
Once he was dancing with joy all around.
When you were on your peak
They were so close and the freak!

Oh my friend, where are you now!
We miss your laughter, your truth and no bow
To the freight of injustice, vice and insanities
You were there never without any parities!

No waves in the Bay of Bengal, it was silent and benumbed
A gentle and sad breeze came all the way
And whispered, “Where is my friend?”
Everyone was silent and their heads were down
Their silence became a big mockery and a frown.

The gentle breeze asked, “Why do you cry?
My friend was burning in the throne of life like a fry.
Now you build a statue to show what
Your respect, repentance or your true love?”

Everyone was silent and their heads were down
Their silence became a big mockery and a frown.
The sad breeze was angry instead
With a broken heart, so did it go back.

Adios to your body, my dear friend
But not to you and to our true friend.
Once you were in our life with sordid joy
Now you are nowhere with your jocund ploy.

Oh no! Your mesmerizing laughter, your posture
With joy and pain will roam around all over.
Adios my friend! No, no adios my friend
You rest in peace with joy in the Haven.
