Not nearly as much as the Nazimuddin comparison. Amla is devout but not at all a fanatic Islamist. I met him in Dhaka and we had a long talk about Islam and politics

This video has been making the rounds on fb. And it is (as expected) not recieving any positive critiques. Honestly, she could've prepared more for such an important interview.

It is in our culture to deny everything I guess.... too many facepalm moments in the interview. That being said atleast she had the guts to talk face to face with the media and face tough questions. Mind you she also allowed to be questioned by general public during her last tenure on live TV. Something our other great leader never dared...
With many flaws AL is still the lesser of the two evils...

Will not opt for any if there was an option. You cannot in right mind claim that a third force would rule Bangladesh in near future..

Hasina fixing up corruption is like Mullah Omar fixing up radicalism in Afghanistan.

i am very disappointed with recent govt power grab in Grameen Bank. Revenge is too overt in our political culture

watching Dipu Moni on NDTV right now, on a show called The Buck Stops Here. Dipu Moni is probably the most well-spoken (and the most fluent in English conversation) of all of our current ministers. Sheikh Hasina probably should have let Dipu Moni do the hardtalk interview or at least have let Dipu Moni accompany her.

I believe Dr. Z mentioned some time ago that Dipu Moni took an active part in the English debating club that he was also once part of. So, no surprise there. Her speech in front of the International Tribunal for Law of the Sea was quite eloquent as well.

AMA Muhith is also fluent in English and has written quite an interesting book on the founding of Bangladesh - Bangladesh: Emergence of a Nation, which I am reading atm. (Not that his proficiency in English mitigates for his failures as a Finance Minister)

Everybody is not happy with how bad Hasina's english is, but I am unhappy with the substance she offered in that interview.
