As long as they have the same rules as people buying from Bangladeshi developers.

ie. No gas supply for burners for cooking anymore, only cylinder gas. No 440V electricity lines for multiple unit homes/buildings. Solar panels must be installed to get 220V single phase line in the first place.

Try running your split ACs on a 220V single phase without tripping the building's circuit breaker!

Highly unlikely given that we are trying to get foreign investors to invest in bangladesh. Government would do everything to accomodate Sahara and rightly so...

I am completely behind this initiative...and I hope they refuse to work with the local developers. For 2 decades the industry has been booming, and they have been making hundreds of millions of dollars...yet have made no effort to do anything on this level. I understand alone a construction company in Bangladesh doesn't have the juice to get this done...but 4-5 of the top companies could have easily gotten together.

But why should they? Cheap & affordable housing run counter to everything they believe in.

As soon as a competitor comes into the picture...they start holding press conferences...want Sahara to work in partnership with them.

+1 to that. This is classic kutnami under the guise of false nationalism from the local Bhumidoshshu community. Such deceptive patriotism is indeed the last resort of the scoundrel.

Indian conglomerate Sahara's much-hyped proposed schemes, including a satellite township within the capital's periphery, are looking uncertain after a recent court order on the group and “slow” preparations by its local affiliate Matribhumi Unnayan Corporation.

Competent sources said the project preparatory works by Matribhumi lost pace owing to an August 31 ruling of the Indian Supreme Court that ordered Sahara to repay its 30 million investors as much as $4.5 billion within three months.The court declared the finance schemes run by two Sahara companies in India illegal.

So, they got caught taking money from poor people via their unlisted company, a whooping $3 Billion Dollars !!
Add in the interest, it is as high as USD 5 Billion.

Guess what ??
Sahara's plan is to build a housing scheme in Dhaka for "low income group" via a company which is 'yet' to register with JSC or to listed with BOI.
Sounds all too eerily similar.
