Should we Finally get rid of the Dead weights?
With most of the new guns doing well, Should we finally get rid of the dead weights?(JS,Nazza!,SIR,Kaedge,The Rock,Sarukh)
Or let their good performances in domestic league fool us in taking them again in the national team?

Naeem will be gone, when Sakib comes back.

Yes, and I don't think you can get rid of Shahadat - what's your alternative?

Those who are meant to stay, will stay.
With this bunch of 3rd Generation batch graduating, there are going to be loads of competition and it will indeed be survival of the fittest.

absolutely .....
the 3rd generation have far better understanding of cricket and it will be tough for the previous generation to survive. game on for the deadwoods. previously they were getting lots of chance because it was the rotation of deadwoods again and again. now, the chance for deadwoods are going to be very low.

Get rid of Shakib. He is not number 1 anymore. He is a Shamim 2.0. Even Kanta can't save us from him.

Are you saying that because he didn't score today? He scored a 50 just 2 days ago! Calm it with the dropping bit.
I didn't want him in the ODI from the start. I mentioned it during pre-series. But we don't have any other better option.
I'd take Naeem @ 3 / Ash, JS, SN, Naz, Rock.

I didn't want him in the ODIs but he is the only one we have, and I was not impressed with his 50 anyways. He should be replaced by Shakib once he is fit.

Come'on NW. Can we for one day not let pessimism get better of ourselves? We won!!! What else you want? Why worry about 'deadweights' and all? Had we lost today, I bet a thread would pop up by someone that is it too early for the debutants?
I hate to use the word "deadweight" today. Without Aftab and Ash there could be no Cardiff. Nafees helped us win many Zimbabwe matches. So yes it would be tight competition but I wouldn't go as far as to label them "Deadweights" or say, "untouchables"

I hope Naeem stays. He has lot to offer. He should not be categorised in the same group with Nazimuddin or Junaed.

absolutely spot on !
I guess the battle has started already: Anamul century, Gazi taking wickets, Mominul showing promising signs, so good for our cricket.

I think Nayeem is no deadwood he is no category of those sore losers like SN, Nazim or Junaed. This guy seems more ready to dedicate for his country, certainly he does have some limitation but a dedicated man. He will shine more with the competition now team is getting among players.

Yes to OP from me if you exclude Kayes from the list. I think kayes still has alot to give BD cricket if work hard. At least he can give some competition to the preferred starter

Those who know me, both here and in real life, know what I'm going to say.
I won't use the term deadwood but strongly feel we have next gen batsmen with SIGNIFICANTLY better ability ready to outperform them in the middle. Sure they can get better but not in the picnic environment of the NCL making a mockery of the very concept of FC and List A. I think barring adequate A team and HIP tours, they have a far better chance of getting better at at the highest level. Whether they can make a smooth enough transition into the highest level, and are given the long enough opportunity to to try and do so is another story. But I do believe that they deserve a chance.
Bijoy has shown what he can do, and Shourobh has given us glimpses of what he offers. Both will continue to get better InshAllah. Guys like Hom and Rumman are in the pipeline and I'm certain they'll do well also. Soumya and Sohan will be in the pipeline within a couple of years and all of this represents the end of complacency. The end of complacency not only for players with limited ability but also players who cannot make the transition.
Even mainstays will have to push themselves to be better to stay ahead of the competition. The culture of underachievement will turn on its head because of such competition, and that will make us stronger than we imagine. Remember that even our most senior players are pretty young and still a few years away from hitting their peak years from the late 20s to the mid 30s. I think we have a great future ahead of us InshAllah.
Having said all that, I don't see a future for the Rocky, Nazza!, Imroze, ShuVo and Imrul or any of the fabled players before them anymore, and feel that even decent players like Riyad and Nayeem will need to perform at a much higher level or risk being replaced by those who can.
I hope we start producing bowlers just as promising but they'll need better pitches do their best.
