He's starting to get those 30s and 40s regularly but yes he definitely needs to put greater emphasis on getting the bigger scores. I think #5 might be more his speed and I'd like Shakib at 4. He still looks a little shaky against the pacier stuff when the ball is still hard but today he took it like a man and was adamant not to throw away his wicket.

i actually got stunned to see him as MOM, but later on saw the stats and found he has been the most run scorer.

but truly what happenned is almsot every matches mushy had the start but gave it away but actually was the 2nd or 3rd highest scorer. while mushy was constantly becoming the 2nd or 3rd high scorers other was not that consistent so in the mushy became the top scorer.

mushy is starting to own the no 4 spot in odi's. but i feel he must bat at no 7 in tests if he keeps on doing the keeping duty as well. and he needs to make sure he does not gift his wicket away after a start

ঢাকা: পেশাদার খেলোয়াড়দের বেশির ভাগই পড়ালেখাটা শেষ করতে পারেন না। যাদের অসম্ভব ধৈর্য্য এবং অধ্যবসায় আছে তারাই কেবল দু’টোকে একসুতোয় বাঁধতে পারেন। জাতীয় ক্রিকেট দলের অধিনায়ক মুশফিকুর রহিম সেই ব্যতিক্রমদের একজন। আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেটের শত ব্যস্ততার ভেতরেও জাহাঙ্গীরনগর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে উচ্চতর ডিগ্রি নিয়েছেন। ইতিহাস বিভাগ থেকে প্রথম বিভাগে অনার্স এবং মাস্টার্স পাশ করেছেন। এজন্য তাঁকে কম ত্যাগ স্বীকার করতে হয়নি। খেলার পাশাপাশি পড়ালেখা চালিয়ে যাওয়ার অভিজ্ঞতা শোনালেন মুশফিকুর রহিম। সেখান থেকে আকর্ষণীয় অংশ বাংলানিউজের পাঠকদের জন্য তুলে ধরা হলো।

প্রশ্ন: বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সর্বোচ্চ ডিগ্রি হয়ে যাওয়ায়, কতটা ভালো লাগছে?

মুশফিক: এটা অনেক ভালো লাগার বিষয়। একজন মানুষ হিসেবে আমার জন্য অনেক বড় একটা অর্জন। এজন্য আমি বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক এবং বন্ধুদের কৃতিত্ব দেব। কারণ তাদের সহযোগিতা ছাড়া কোন ভাবেই এটা সম্ভব ছিলো না। আমি সব সময় কাস করতে পারতাম না, তাদের কাছ থেকে নোট নিয়ে পড়তাম। কাসে উপস্থিতির হার নিয়ে সমস্যা হয়, এই জায়গাটায় শিক্ষকরা আমাকে ছাড় দিয়েছেন। আমাকেও অনেক কষ্ট করতে হয়েছে, যখন সময় পেয়েছি কাস করেছি এবং সময় মতো পরীক্ষাগুলো দিয়েছি। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় কর্তৃপক্ষ বিশেষ করে আমার বিভাগের চেয়ারম্যান এবং শিক্ষকদের কাছে কৃতজ্ঞ থাকবো।

প্রশ্ন: দুটো একসঙ্গে চালিয়ে যাওয়া কতটা চ্যালেঞ্জিং ছিলো, কখনো কি মনে হয়নি পড়াশোনাটা ছেড়ে দেই?

মুশফিক: আমার জীবন দর্শন হলো যেটা করি সেটা শতভাগ করি, যেটা করি না সেটা একেবারে ছেড়ে দেই। এটাও একটা চ্যালেঞ্জ ছিলো। সবাই বলে খেলাধূলা করে পড়াশোনা করা যায় না। আমি মনে করি যদি কেউ চেষ্টা করে এবং সহযোগিতা পায় তাহলে এটা করা সম্ভব। আমার অনার্স মাস্টার্স দুটোই ভালোভাবে শেষ হলো। বিশ্বাস হবে কি না জানি না, এমনও দিন গেছে বিমান থেকে নামার পর দিনই পরীক্ষা ছিলো। সবাই বাইরে বেড়াতে গেছে, আমি বসে পড়েছি।

প্রশ্ন: পড়ালেখা শেষ করলেন, পেশাদারিত্বে এটা কতটা সাহায্য করবে?

মুশফিক: আমার অন্য কোন বিষয়ে পড়ার ইচ্ছে ছিলো, কিন্তু খেলাধূলা করে তা করা খুবই কঠিন। এই বিষয়ে পড়াশোনা করে খুব বেশি না হলেও উপকারে আসবে। এখানেই আমার পড়াশোনা শেষ না, হয়তো এমবিএ বা পিএইচডি করবো। অবশ্যই সেটা যেন ক্রিকেট সংশ্লিষ্ট হয় এবং আমি যেন সেটা পেশার সঙ্গে যোগ করতে পারি।

প্রশ্ন: অনেক ক্রিকেটার থাকেন যারা শুধু ক্রিকেটকে গুরুত্ব দিয়ে পড়াশোনা ছেড়ে দেন, ক্রিকেট ছেড়ে দেওয়ার পর পড়াশোনাটা তো খুব গুরুত্বপূর্ণ?

মুশফিক: খেলাধূলাকে আমি কখনো বলি না সারা জীবনের। এটা জীবনের একটা অংশ। একজন মানুষের জন্য পড়াশোনা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। যারা ফ্যান আছে তাদের জন্য একটা ম্যাসেজও হবে, ক্রিকেট খেলার পাশাপাশি পড়ালেখাও করেছে। কেউ যদি মনে করে খেলাধুলার পাশাপাশি পড়াশোনাটা করা যায় এবং করে লাভটা কিন্তু তারই হবে।

প্রশ্ন: সাঙ্গাকারা আইন পড়েছেন, তার বাবা মাও আইনে পড়াশোনা করা। লর্ডসে এনিয়ে কথা হচ্ছিলো, এরকম ব্যক্তিত্ব কী আপনাকে প্রেরণা দিয়েছে?

মুশফিক: সাঙ্গাকারা এবং মঈন খান; ওনাদের মতো উচ্চ শিক্ষিত যারা আছেন, তাঁরা যখন কথা বলেন তখন বোঝা যায় সব দিক থেকেই তাঁরা গোছানো এবং সবাই প্রশংসা করে এটা একটা বড় দিক।

প্রশ্ন: শিক্ষাজীবন শেষ করায় পরিবারের প্রতিক্রিয়া কী?

মুশফিক: আমার পরিবারের সবাই অবাক হয়েছে। এত কম সময়ে এটা হয়ে যাবে তারা সত্যিই আশা করেনি। কিন্তু তাদের একটা বিশ্বাস ছিলো আমি যেটাই করি খুব ভালোভাবেই করবো। সবার পরিবার তাদের ছেলেমেয়ে নিয়ে গর্ব করে। আমি যেহেতু খেলোয়াড় তারাও গর্ব করে। আমি খেলোয়াড় হওয়ায় পড়াশোনাটা সেভাবে করতে পারিনি, ওরকম ভালো ছাত্রও ছিলাম না। কিন্তু যখন একটা জয়গায় চলে এসেছি, তখন মনে হয়েছে আমি যদি পড়াশোনা করি তাহলে ছোট ভাই- বোন যারা আছে তারাও উজ্জীবিত হবে। এইচএসসি দেওয়ার পর মনে হতো আর কী পড়াশোনা করবো। পরিবার থেকে তখন বলতো আজকে হয়তো বুঝবি না, পরে বুঝবি পড়াশোনাটা কি দরকার।

প্রশ্ন: আপনার পড়া এনিয়ে সতীর্থদের কেউ ঠাট্টা করতেন?

মুশফিক: আমি যখন পড়তাম তখন কেউ উপহাস করতো না। তবে সবাই মিলে যখন আড্ডা দিতাম তখন অনেকে বলতো যা তুই পড়তে যা।

প্রশ্ন: খেলাধুলার পাশাপাশি পড়াশোনাটা কতটা কঠিন এবং অন্যদের জন্য আপনার পরামর্শ কী?

মুশফিক: এটা করা খুব কঠিন। অনেকে অনেক ভাবে চেষ্টা করছে। আমি আশা করবো যাদের সুযোগ আছে তারা যেন পড়ালেখা শেষ করে।

প্রশ্ন: বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডিগ্রী হলো, বাংলাদেশ দলের অধিনায়ক হয়েছেন, ব্যাংক ব্যালেন্সও নিশ্চয়ই হৃষ্টপুষ্ট হয়েছে, পরবর্তী লক্ষ্য কী?

মুশফিক: সময় যখন হয়েছে এখন বিয়েটা করতে চাই।

প্রশ্ন: ২০১৩ সালেই কী বিয়েটা হয়ে যাবে?

মুশফিক: দেখাযাক, সময় হলে জানতে পারবেন। সবাইকে জানিয়েই বিয়ে করবো।
