Default Jurgensen plots Bangladesh cricket boom

Quote:

Jurgensen, a right-arm quick from Brisbane who attended the Australian Cricket Academy alongside Andrew Symonds in 1994 and played for three different states, believes the raw talent is there but scheduling makes long-form improvement incredibly difficult.

"What the boys really need is as much of that four-day, five-day cricket. Particularly after we played so much T20 cricket over the last 6 months," he said.

"They're very talented, natural cricketers - probably a lot more talented than what people actually think.

"There is something there that could take that team to another level over the next five years and it is something I've spoken to the players about."

Nice to know how Jurgensen is processing his thought about the Tigers!

Much thanks for sharing the link r_s bhai

What else can he say? An article dedicated to him surely will have to add some positives about our players. We have been hearing theis untapped talent label from the beginning of time....unless they turn into reality these articles will just be a poor attempt to sensationalize our current cricketing stature.....we need result Shane, especially in the longer version.

What exactly is the plot? I saw no plot in the article - just some history and upcoming SL series that is already plotted - not by him - and some huha rah rah. No mention of plot - er plan to make tours boom for BD .. so what is the article really reporting?

Bad headline from article - no plot at all!

I hope that Sri Lanka tour, the ODI series is raised to 5 matches if not a one-off T20, we simply don't play enough International Cricket.

SJ hasn't done all that bad...perhaps its time to give him a 2 year deal.

so what are you trying to say mate? i'm not getting sold on anything, i'm appreciating what he has to say, everyone wants results, so what do you want him to do pull it out of thin air? the fact that we are not playing enough tests isn't his fault, so why ask for results before we even play enough? and its easy to sit on an armchair and demand results, understand the game first.

Yes, he should continue with the role. Happy with the positive attitude, team spirit, winning mentality. Sth both Stuart Law and SJ was able to instill. Where he can improve on is discipline and the more attention to detail. Details like converting 1's to 2's. Expanding the range of shots of batsmen (Not relying solely on deep mid wicket for big hitting) etc.

I'm sure you didn't understand the game yet.....

He is the pace bowling coach....so I'm only interested to see the result of his coaching with the pace bowling..... Don't mix up with test match/thin air/positive attitude and cook a khichuri to give him a escape route..... Show me the result of pace bowling coach in last two years.

...and instead of doing and talking about the job he had been entrusted for last two years....he is talking about something to get a HC job.....now you get the game mate? And you can see, who is talking from the cozy armchair?? I agree it's easier said than done.....SJ has proven as the pace bowling coach, he can do nothing.... We are going all out to promote him to HC for his failure to perform as the pace bowling coach??

I will have to agree with BANFAN here. Jurgensen as a pace bowling coach has been an utter failure and the recent series under him as the interim HC is the perfect example of being in the right place at the right time.
Jurgensen can certainly hope for a permanent HC role as anyone in his position would, so he's trying to present himself as the future planner etc, but hopefully BCB will do the right thing by appointing someone qualified.

I have been utterly disappointed in him as the bowling coach. Ian Pont did some good work before him, but our pacers regressed under Jurgensen. Interestingly, I find his work as the interim HC much more intriguing. However, BCB should do sue diligence before appointing anyone.

In that case, hire him as HC and appoint specialist coaches - case solved!

Yep, it's all a PR article. "Han korenga, tan korenga" doesn't mean jack.

mate, dump the attitude. our bowlers bowled very well in 2012, with the asia cup wins, win V windies etc.

Jhore hoke aar jai hoke... there is some positive result under his belt as a HC. Even in Test I saw positive even after not playing for so long.

I see no reason to move quickly for high profile coach who will leave us after 1 year any way.

I am all for wait and see what Jurgensen can do. I am also for giving him 1 year+ (extendable to three more years by BCB) contract.

After another 200 years, I'm sure even We will also get some credit for landing on the moon...and of all the achievement of this civilization.....as a part of human kind in 20th century......... But surely we don't get it now... So

Can you better leave that attitude of giving gono credit to some one who doesn't deserve? That stops improvement....well, they all deserve a piece of sweet as a member of the team...and need to be told on the face, that you need improvement.... They will otherwise get their gono credit later....down the history, when we will talk in more general terms.

We haven't won the World Cup ...

Our spin bowlers did well in 2012, mostly due to Saqlain. Our pace attack regressed, which is supposed to be Jurgensen's specialty.

Spinners did well because of inclusion of Saqlain, it has been voiced in different mentioning by the players in news reports. I think this was the best choice from BCB addition to inclusion of Pont and Swift before the Banglawash.
