Looks promising, being consistent with his scoring and gets big tons as well. The biggest plus though, is that he can bowl extremely decent legbreak - so if he could be consistent and make it to the test side, will add an extra dimension bowling wise too.

Tests obviously. He doesn't look much of an ODI prospect to me.

Thanks for opening a thread on Ayub. I think he is pretty underrated.

it's good to see a player that once was a good prospect comeback from nowhere to become a top prospect. haven't heard from him for a few years and this year he comes back and starts scoring a good amount of runs so it's really good to see that. his leg breaks no doubt add a dimension to his game the the team and he's doing rather well with the bat.

In decent form but we're not in need of middle order batsman in tests at the moment. How do you know he can bowl decent legbreaks? Haven't heard many people praising his bowling.

I remember he scored 40 odd runs in the lower order for BD in the practice match against BCB XI. But yes he is a prospect but i would rather stick with Mominul first before moving onto Ayub.

I think what we need to do is keep an eye on batsmen who average 45+. I barely see any batsmen doing so...

agree, stick with mominul first. also agree with 45+, actually how many average 45+? anamul only just averages 45. 40+ is rare in BD so anyone who does should be looked at carefully, guys like shuvagata (44) and asif ahmed (40).

^^yes i think when Shuvagata finds some form we need to carefully monitor his progress. We seem to be finding middle/lower order batsmen ie Shuvagata, Mominul, Ayub, Ziaur. Bangladesh are seriously craving a top order batsmen. Could Shuvagata possibly bat at #3?

He really seemed to be a good prospect even before mominul shuvagoto came to spotlight. He was the captain of bcb age level teams u13 u15 a few years ago. He just lost a bit of momentum when Naeem became chokka naeem smashing 6 sixers in his over. But overall a good prospect for longer versions. He'll become a seasoned campaigner in a few more years.

i think mominul or shuvagata should be given the #3 spot and told they have 3 series to cement their place as the #3.

Hom hasn't been able to make the first XI of the Central Zone's team...I don't think he's on the national team radar.

You could push Naeem or Mullah up to 3 (I prefer Mullah) and bat him at 4 or 5. He bats at 4, and if he does well you could promote him too. Least of your worries IF he can stay consistent. Meanwhile he's just scored another 100.

I have seen him bowl in BPL when there's dew he was still turning it and getting some bounce. He got a 4fer, though the figures flatter him as he bowled a bit too short. Enough evidence for me to suggest he's 'decent'. Not that it matters though.

He is doing well this season an interval of a few years. If he can continue for long time it will be good but it is not time to consider him national level at the moment. He needs to carry on this form.

Obviously should be nowhere near national team - but needs more A tours etc. and if he keeps up this form another 1-2 FC seasons, then should get him in the squad.

Good to see youngsters putting pressure on selectors.

He should definitely be in the mix. He was once a big time prospect for Bangladesh but unfortunately was out of favor. He has to battle the likes of Naeem and Mominul. He could bat at #3 for ODi's and #4 for Tests. For the time being though, I see him riding the national team bench and being an active member of the A team.

Bangladesh Academy claim tense three-run win
Cricinfo staff
August 11, 2008
Text size: A | A
Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy 217 (Marshall 62, Kayes 56, de Villiers 4-29) and 237 (Marshall 72) beat South Africa Academy 374 (van Zyl 161, Vilas 78, van der Merwe 50*, Alam 4-86) and 77 (van der Merwe 23, Alam 4-38) by three runs

after that series kayes and mahbubul got their chance in the national team squad against the kiwis while marshal had been left out.he has been under the radar of the bcb but some how couldnt make it to the natl team

He (Ayub) should definitely be in the A tours to England next year and if he does well in that then Bangladesh could start thinking of including him. Bangladesh first class structure is bad I mean i.e. Jahurul averages over 40 in the domestic games but is pathetic at International level.
