Like your your Test side, though. Abul should be given a proper run and Enamul will bolster the spin options. Sunny could be equally good. Though, he has been a little scrappy of late.

I completely echo your sentiments. Not the least bit worried about Mominul. Can't just look at the scores on cricinfo. He'll be one of our most successful batsmen.

i dont understand how people still think about making team without mahmudullah , just think about it we wouldve never go to asia cup final if riad wasnt played that great inning against srilanka , and against west indies he was speechless , we couldve never win the series without riad let alone his past performances

I agree with you. He really does have the facets to become a good batsmen. Good technique and one thing that i people dont talk about is that he can play short balls with relative ease. Yes maybe his drives might go up in the air sometimes but that something that isnt difficult to work on compared to working on footwork (which is currently Anamul's problem).

Nazmul has an excellent record against Sri Lanka.

He seems to trouble the SL top order consistently.

Even if he can only Bowl a max of 10 overs, Masri should be picked for Tests.

No tokenism here. I'd have opted for Hom and Rumman even if Hom were a Wahabi Islamist and Rumman had neon pink eyes. Both have genuine ability and will add considerable stability, punch and depth to our ODI batting. Not including Rex was a difficult decision but with Gazi in the team and Shakib back, I opted for an extra batsman who can bowl when given the chance (Rumman). Nasir too can be effective with the ball.

I would not count much into that. Nazmul only played one ODI in Srilanka at RPS. He was able to grab only Jaya's wicket with an outrageous economy of 7.62, actually he was the maximum run giver that day. His successes against Srilanka mostly happened in home. In 3 matches he has 7 wickets with a BBI of 3/30. But in terms of economy Mash and Rasel are way ahead.

Whereas Rubel played 4 matches against Srilanka at home with a BBI of 33/4, he never played away match with Srilanka. Considering his current lack of form he might not be a good choice right now. If we go by the golden rule of choosing players leading the domestic Tapash becomes an automatic choice I guess.

For test whereas Shahadat Rajib, the only BD bowler who has his name curved on Lords List is leading miles ahead. He has a better average than Mash and has a 5-fer against them and grabbed 23 wickets in 9 matches he played.

Exactly, I agree with you. He filled the gap of Shakib in Shahar Cup ODI series against West Indies.

My XIs:

Tests

Tamim
Anam (about time)
Naeem
Shakib
Riyad (man up and bat up)
Rahim
Nasir
Shohag
Elias
Useless pacer #1 (jodi laigga jaay)
Useless pacer #2 (jodi laigga jaay)
Nazmul

ODIs

Tamim
Anam
Shakib
Rahim
Riyad (man the heck up)
Nasir
Zia (might as well for a few extra runs/overs)
Mashrafe
Shohag
Abdurrajjakraj
Nazmul

Sorry Mominul, but Shakib is back.

T20s

For once, I believe the ODI squad I've selected is capable of playing T20s. We'll still lose 9/10 times in this format though. And Riyad has to man the heck up and hit.

Shakib at no. 3 in ODIs? I dont think so. Shakib really isnt the type of batsman that will suit that positione, he is our damagecontrol-finisher in the team and no.4/5 is perfect for him

If pacer is useless slot why not take Mehrab or Ash as a bowler-allrounder for test.

Their bowling in Test Match won't be useful. They may take wickets seldom in shorter version of cricket. But there is no reason taking them as all rounder in Test.

^If you are planning to win yes. A spinner won't get wicket and opponent will pile up runs. A BD pacer will not get wicket and opponent will pile up runs - when the post says useless pacer 1 & 2. May be strategy for draw would be further helped by sustaining our innings with more batsmen in the team.

Just a hunch although I know it is ineffective no matter what team you choose.

Sure the young lads are promising but I dont think they have done enough to warrant a place yet. Hom has been -to be honest -utterly hopeless so far (NCL/BCL). Don't know much what Shabbir has done. Beside, I'm not one for mass-change in a short time when the national side is concerned. Need to maintain young/experienced balance and team cohesion.

One simply can't bench someone like Abdur Razzak who has almost 200 ODI wickets at just over 27 runs a peice. That would be a blunder of huge proportion! Three prong spin attack worked for us before. Why not now? Anyway, if you want an extra bat then go for a specialist batter. We have plenty of "allrounders" (bits n pieces) in the side as it is. Again, bits and pieces players might be a stop gap measure only. In serious cricket you gotta pick your batters for batting only and your bowlers for bowling only. One good allrounder is enopugh and at maximum two are more than necessary.

Offtopic- not quite "neon pink" but 'Neon Golden' album. Check it in the What you're listening thread. One of the best albums in the last few years, in my not so humble opinion. You might like it.

Your best batsman should bat early. No point playing a dead wood instead.

I know, going by that first sentence, Shakib should open. But Tamim and Anam aren't dead wood (read Jahirul/Junaid/Ashraful/Mofeez).

It could go both ways. If he can learn to do make the ball "talk," he could become a dangerous bowler. Otherwise, he will be another one who could bowl comparatively fast, but ineffective.

From what I have seen, the boy has the right temperament, but his technique is a bit flawed. I'll take this than the other way around. I think he has a fair shot at being good.

Mominul should be in the squads imo, Marshall and hom the back-ups, hom was good in his debut series but he's not had much form since and the longer it lasts the further down the queue he falls. Anamul is a no brainer to be picked, the rest of the batsmen pick themselves. As for bowlers rubel, mash, nazmul, sajidul, abul, shafiul and maybe babu are the pacers to look at, spinners are set with shakib, sunny and gazi.

Technique a bit flawed? Tbh footwork is good. Balance is good. Drives well, relatively compact and plays the short ball well. I cant ask for more tbh. IMO he just needs to clear the nerves and fix his temperament up. He will go good.
