The way Riyad batted in the WI series, if he can keep that up, he's here to stay. He was clearly 1 of the best batsman in Tests with the way he fought West Indian short pitched bowling was impressive. Then in ODIs he was getting his eye a lot quicker than usual. I thought he was more fluent than Mushy. So I have to disagree that he's not a long term solution. I don't know if it's completely clear cut but who has really challenged him for his spot? Also Mominul is still not ready yet and Shabbir still is raw as well. So Riyad's here to stay for a while IMO.

don't get me wrong, he has the potential to be a long term solution. the problem lies in that he doesn't like to bat higher up the order. batting to #8 in tests isn't a long term option imo unless we have a few shakibs in the line-up. riyad is going to have to bat at lowest #7 in tests, but if riyad bats at #7 then someone has to be kicked out of the team and who will you drop? in the WI test series our batting line-up was:
1 tamim
2 junaid
3 SN
4 naeem
5 shakib
6 mushy
7 nasir
8 riyad
junaid and SN are worth replacing, but are we going to push someone already in the line-up up to the #3 spot so that riyad can bat at #7? maybe naeem or nasir but nasir is doing well where he is and naeem is to, plus neither of them are really #3s. plus it might be worth putting anamul at #3 in which case if riyad plays there is no choice but to bat him at #8 which means we go without another bowler.
unless we push someone already in the line-up up to the #3 spot i don't see riyad being a long term solution. we also have to remember he doesn't like batting in the top/middle order and he doesn't always succeed there like he does in the lower order. on top of that, even if he can bat well higher up the order it's going to be tough for him to get a spot there ahead of shakib, nasir and mushy which means he's going to have to take naeem's spot and naeem just got a century and if he continues the same way will surely have a fixed spot in the line-up.
i think in ODIs and even t20s he can more easily secure his spot because his bowling becomes more of a strength. in tests however, i think he needs to succeed in the middlke order to fix his spot in the side. that's just my personal opinion based on my idea of a good test team line-up. i don't like batting to #8 in tests because it weakens the bowling which is already something BD is struggling with.

yes, indeed he has been terrible even by his own standards. bowling wise ok but batting-wise definitely terrible.

I actually thought he'd perform in the BPL and even picked him up for my fantasy team.
He should be far away from the T20 NT. ODI is his best suite.

He can still do a job for us in ODIs and Tests, but he should be dropped from the T20 team as his primary role is as a batsman. It's not a bad thing as we can blood Sabbir and give him some international exposure.

If he is in form, he is a must for TEST and ODI. Even in T20, he will be IN for now only because of lack of reliable alternative.

Seeing mullhah's performance and the way other bd batsmen in bpl2 it seems we surely lost the T20 match against WI by their hands....

^^ I don't think anyone is saying he should be dropped from ODIs or Tests. In T20s he hasn't done that well with the bat, he's got one last chance to prove his mettle otherwise he should be dropped.

We got better options for the Test team. Bench him if Tamim can bat in the second Test, and let Anamul bat down in the order.

Mullah Miah has never been much of a team man. He was just trying to show the world how good he is by belting Herath and outdoing Ashraful. When his team has just lost a wicket and are in a precarious position trying to save the follow-on. He plays Test like T20 and T20 like Test.
Vice captain......what a rank idiot!

True. He can't enjoy batting at no.8 forever. His bowling is not that good to be playing as a bowling allrounder. Shohag Gazi is capable of batting at no 8. Either play as a top order batsmen/batting allrounder or leave your place for someone else. And the less we talk about his fielding is the better- be it the ground fielding or catching.
