Gowza, I agree with you that management should let Anam settle in #3 (instead of making him open to accomadate SN at #3), and that should end all the debate regarding the position.

Either way, those two top order batsmen (SN and JI) are unrelated to Marshall vs Momin for a middle order position debate.

Just get Imrul to open with Tamim in ODIs and drop Anamul to #3. That should solve the problem.

But in tests please get someone else other than Nafees.

i'd rather select another middle order bat in marshall than take SN. but if they were looking for another top order batsman they probably should have picked shamsur as well, or anyone but SN.

IMO, he should not be in the team directly with his 'one season blast'. Let him play for the A-team/BCB teams and score some runs consistently against better oppositions before being considered for the NT.

The practice match in Sri Lanka is an ideal chance to impress

you see ma man, Life in cricket is like a pyramid. The higher up you go, the more is at stake and the less chances you get. Therefore, you must make it count.

For those who are saying what more does Marshall have to do, please think of Mike Hussey who had to score 15000 first class run OVER 176 matches before breaking into the Test side, or Simon Katich who had to wait for 3 years for Steve Waugh to retire before becoming a Test regular. Now whether our Mominuls and Riyad's are worthy of holding a Waugh's jock is a different matter

Thats true, but that Aussie team was something else. Hussey would have walked into whoever was the 2nd best team when he was 22.

I believe the next level to perform after Domestic should be the A-team/BCB teams. Throwing a domestic performer to the NT directly doesn't look appropriate. There should be a consistent benchmark for the 'Prize'.

I rest my case as he is IN already. I pray for his success and hope he will earn a permanent spot.

Good points but BD cricket is in a far different state to what Aussie cricket was back then. In fact even Aussie cricket now is far different from what it was back then.

Marshall has played in a fair number of A-team/academy matches. Comparing to other recent inclusions such as Mominul, Anamul, or Nasir, he has a much better preparation for international cricket.

Bulbul rates him highly, so does Sujon. I think he will be quite alright.

Since our openers manage to perform a very a crappy job in a batting paradise like Galle, I guess this the best time team management can risk a bet with inclusion of this year's top BCL performer in the squad for Colombo test in SL.

Wonder what it will mean for Naeem, Nafees and Marshall with regards to Test squad selections for the Zim tour if our batsmen have another good outing in the second Test.

if that happens, then Ayub and SN likely to be out. Nayeem will make it as a reserve or replace Mominul Babu in the XI.

Marshall will have a very tough time making the squad now after Mominul's goos start to his Test career. Once Shakib comes back then he'll likely have to take the fall. Even Naeem might have to wait. Not to mention, Rokibul has also begun to show good form in the domestic scene. I expect all of them to be in the upcoming A team tour and will have to battle for their spots. As Razab bhai said, competition is good.
