Overall quite happy with the performance. We fought hard in both Tests and that is the most important thing. I would say our selection tactics hurt us. Considering the Herath threat even before the series we should have kept left handers like Nafees in the squad. In the 2nd test we also lacked a containing bowler to keep the runs down. Sri Lanka was never under pressure because of the abundance of loose balls. While batsman like Kuraratne would give you wickets even while run scoring is easy.. getting quality batsman like Sangakara or DIlshan or Jayawardene is a much harder proposition. We need to be able to bowl 4-5 maidens on the trot to create pressure which we were unable to do with three inconsistent pacers. In the end Herath the spinner was the chief destroyer on this pitch while we overlooked our strength and copied Sri Lanka's 3 pacer strategy. If we had gone with 2 specialist spinners it would have allowed us better control over the run rate and also given us an edge on the 5th day.

Ditto. Losing by 7 wickets in Lanka's backyard is not a bad result as rarely as we play Test cricket. A well earned draw and several batting records is a bonus as well. Need to beat ZIM 2-0 and by handy margins to keep the momentum.

Not proud, but not displeased.
Happy that we could avoid the ever persistent 2-0 scoreline. The natural progression demands that.
Little sad that we lost the 2nd one in a same manner as we usually do, a sudden collapse in the 2nd innings leaving us 100 runs short.
Sad that we couldn't take it to the fifth day.

But overall series, it was better than nothing and we did achieve something in the first test.
Still hungry though.

Proud? No. Especially as the batting order crumbled in the 2nd test. But it's fine. Test cricket doesn't have many more years left anyway.

I'm very proud of Mushfiq, Nasir and Shourobh for their assertive batting in tough situations. Especially proud of Mushfiq for becoming the first Bangladeshi to have scored a test double hundred in a match saving effort. Very happy about Sir Mohammad Ashraful Matin's match saving 190, but not surprised by his inability to convert or subsequently predictable failures. As a former fan of this hard working gadha with immense potential, I've learned to expect nothing from him either way but always want him and others in national colors to succeed even when the odds are absurd. That way, his success makes me happy while his paroxysms of panoramic retardation don't hurt as much.

That's it! Sorry guys, I'm not going to lower the proverbial bar and celebrate debilitating mediocrity in the process just because we used be significantly worse not so long ago. That kind of coddling never has or will generate excellence at the highest level of the game after 13 effing years. We DID NOT do as well we should have under the exact circumstances and whining about the fact that things could be worse as they had been in the past is irrelevant.

We MUST play more tests, A Team and Academy FC to improve. The non competitive farce known as the NCL or the less non competitive joke BCL ain't doing the job when it comes to team performance in the longest and toughest format of the sport.

Our team still has the same old problems that prevent it from performing as a cohesive unit, the bowling and fielding have seemed to regressed a decade, BUT the number of solid performers has increased as have the number of consistent performances. That's why we're doing better and by "doing better" I mean sucking less.

The inability to find the gaps and therefore rotate the strike with ease is still a major problem. Most of our batsmen still brainfart and throw their wickets away at the worst possible moment. We still see our bowlers' exercising their collective right to bowl at least one or two "hit-me" deliveries per over while hoping to get wickets due to unforced batting error like a bunch of sissies. To make matters even worse, easy catches are still being dropped in defensive, ODI type field settings and sheer laziness is gifting the opposition extra runs we cannot afford. Can't be proud of that.

Tel-Ba(n)sh-Ba(n)sh-Ba(n)sh-Ba(n)sh!

By the way, I feel that there's a direct correlation between tragically low self-esteem and lowering the bar to praise mediocrity. They're not our kids or nephews FGS, but test cricketers representing our country. Just as flashy red SUVs and imaginatively conjured egos speak volumes about one's issues, so does overlooking the truth in their proper, GLOBAL context.

Sohel - having suffered for a long long time, I have decided to lower my expectations significantly.

@Zunaid: I feel you bro. I too have adjusted some expectations but haven't lowered the proverbial bar.

Should've done better is my response. Should've fought harder in the 2nd test.

Loving SOHEL's analysis.

Also, not surprised at all the "shoulda, woulda, coulda" comments from others.

Bottom line? Reality bites.....

Nothing to be proud, really.

Yes, boys showed tremendous courage and application in the 1st Test -under pressure. But, in the 2nd we made school boys errors. Certain players failed to read the crucial phases of the game and gifted their wickets like Bolods. The 2nd Test was there for the taking. 100 more runs on the board and we could have won it. After Sanga and Dilshan departed there were very little experience left in the SL side. They would have been under tremendous pressure and we know it usually brings regular wickets.

Yes, we play very few Test and FC cricket but still that 2nd Test could have been won. So, not proud nor disappointed but mightily frustrated knowing what these lads are truly capable of! These are the best group of competent and talented cricketers we have ever had. Paitence is a virtue. We have waited over 12 years to see a fight like the 1st innings. The progress rate might be a tad low but we are slowly but surely getting there.
