Ash has so much control over himself. He really does look like a test match player.

He batted well today. I can definitely see that he is more confident in his approach. Runout was unlucky. No sure why everyone is criticizing in such a disparaging manner.

He fought well today, but definitely unlucky. Lets not blame someone for trying his best.

Let's give some space to o Ashraful, especially since he is putting some effort to perform well.

He looks relaxed and composed in the middle. Looks like he knows what he is doing instead of throwing his bat at everything. Also he doesn't look nervous on camera like he used to. Times are changing for the Sir Ash...

Just curious what do y'all think of IS Ash's greatest innings in each format and overall? Do you like the 'old' ash or 'new' ash to put it crudely? is 190 his greatest test innings or the ones he used to do with blitzkrief before... now GREAT and favorite are not same but if i had to choose some to watch over and over would be his old school 100 cardiff and 94 and bpl 100.

Pertinent

Love the ending:

Quote:
For someone who can second guess what people will say to him if he doesn't score, and has the nous to recall the exact ball number in which he played a late-cut, Ashraful is one who can be counted on to be a shrewd operator. It is about time he keeps showing it in public.

Now is not the time. He just got into the team a couple of months ago, let him prove his maturity further by more clinical performances.

To be fair, that runout, even the camera thought was 4 byes. That being said, Ash is right there and has eyes, he should have made sure rather than run off for a meaningless couple of runs. In the context of the match, it wouldn't change anything but he missed a great chance to stay not out and beef up his slowly rising average. If he can be a batsman that averages 30-35 from here on out with his penchant for scoring the odd hundred, he can end our #3 problem for good.

#3 has been a problematic area for quite a while now and if Ash can fill that void i'll be more then happy. We all know the potential he possesses and he can play match winning innings so i think it's good to know you have that kind of talent in the #3 position. You have a sense of belief that he might make a recording breaking century every match whereas if Siddique or Nazim was at #3 you can guess you're savings account every single game that they will never score a match winning knock for the country.

A consistent Ash will do the team wonders. As Whatmore once said when he was quized about Ash's poor average in ODIs.

Quote:
Reporter: His (Ashraful) average is not that impressive (16.5 in ODIs)
Whatmore: I know more than anyone his average - and what he's capable of.

Reason why his average will always be below 25.

We saw the old Ash today. Will the new Ash show up in the second inning?

He still has an average of a 42.7 since 2011 in 6 Test matches although a lot of that is due to the 190 he scored. That being said though, his spot should not be sealed yet and will need to fire next innings.

"Shocker of the day
Umpire Tony Hill has made three incorrect caught-behind decisions in the match so far. Two of them, to give out Shingi Masakadza and Tamim Iqbal, occurred on the third day but it was not his blunder that can be called the worst of the lot. Ian Gould, who judged Mohammad Ashraful out lbw has that label. Kyle Jarvis bowled a low full toss that was swinging down the leg side and struck Ashraful on the front pad. It was clearly missing leg but Jarvis' appeal was enough to convince Gould that a disbelieving Ashraful had to go."
