He's keeping Shahadat, Rubel and Abul out of the playing XI.

Yeah any particular reason for preferring Zia over Reza? At least Reza is much more than a part timer and has good experience.

Ya as far as bowling allrounders go, Farhad Reza, Alauddin Babu, Dollar Mahmud and even Abul Hasan seem to be better options. Zia could be an option for T20I's and ODI's but in Tests it seems we have better allrounders

Agreed. Babu deserves a shot no doubt. Young and must be rearing to go. Quick quick too. But i wouldn't go with Abul yes he has shown signs of improvement, but he didnt deserve to get a shot in the first place.

Yes. Forhad is better bowler than Zia. Forhad is not a very good batsman but his batting style and patience goes well with longer format. To me Reza is a better batsman than Zia as well.

if the selectors really want to pick someone based on pace then they should pick kamrul rabbi, not the greatest of FC stats but 33 average with a strike rate in the low 50s is a better resume than abul had to go on. taskin is an option but he's less experienced, younger so could have body issues. otherwise go with the likes of al amin, abu jayed, kazi, babu, dolar. there are seriously so many fast bowling options that haven't been tried and tested, ridiculous of the selector to say that they're picking guys like shahadat because there is no other option.

zia was a poor pick for this match and as a replacement. the reason being is that he's barely bowled the last 3 or so years, might have had a couple of decent t20 or one-day outings with the ball but bowling in test cricket is a whole different kettle of fish, you need to be able to bowl 15+ overs in a day and back it up the next day to. someone who has barely bowled for the last 3 years could easily have a tough time bowling that much (fitness wise) in such a short space of time and not get injured. if they really wanted him to be an option in tests they should have gone to him and told him to bowl more in FC matches to get his fitness and body right, until then try one of the other many promising options.

Lol Farhad Reza is not international standard by any means even though he is the Kallis of our domestic cricket. Watching Reza bat or bowl is painful to the eye.

The selection Zia was made thinking the pitch woud behave like the first test where the ball moved and bounced lot more. Zia probably would have been effective on that wicket but on the current wicket he just didn't have the pace to trouble the batsman. He and Sajidul could still do the job of holding the runs down while Robiul, Gazi and Shakib goes for wickets.

Zia i hope can somehow manufacture what Kegan Meth does with his kind of speed. It was help his game immensely. Sajidul i feel can be the type of bowler to take wicket taking deliveries. Needs to pitch the ball up in the right areas a bit more. He can get movement which can cause trouble for the batsmen.

Both Raju and Babu are much better "seaming all rounder" options for us in all 3 formats. Raju needs to become more accurate and Babu, NOT quick, needs to approach at least Raju's pace without compromising his accuracy. Neither can really swing the ball but are capable of generating movement off the seam on good wickets.

Babu has a pretty good FC batting of 39. So he would be a good option to look at. Bowling wise he also looks very capable. Abul might have talent but has horrible stats in both international and domestic cricket.

Well Reza may be not international standard but he is the best from our lot and he is better than Zia as a test allrounder. Look at his stats with the A team in different tours. Even in the Board cup he did well. My point is if we dont have standard pacer all rounder to play test we should not select them. To me Zia was a poor choice in this test. It was better to select a full time pacer from our lot.

Why didnt we pick Shafiul for this match?

Maybe selectors thought Zia adds depth in batting. But Shafiul could have added more penetration in the attack, and we wouldnt need to overbowl Robiul and Sajidul

Why isn't he being used to bowl? Is Mushy being a Mushy again with part time bowlers?

@NoName. Theres no venom in his bowling. Military medium, stump to stump. Meth on the other hand despite lack of pace swings it a foot and a half both ways.

Wasn't impressed at all. A bit harsh but that's the sad truth, he couldn't swing it half as much meth swung it . Disappointing.

Shafiul is mot fit for tests.
Our selectors have selected Rubel,Shahadat and Shafiul,3 half fit players for the tour. This is just pathetic selection. Why they send Shafiul to Zimbabwe if he is not fit for test?
They could have taken Kamrul Islam, Dollar, Robin or even Tapas Basya is better than an unfit player. Now we have to play with ZIA as a test team pacer? Pathetic selection.

Zia wasn't originally selected, he came in as a replacement therefore selectors have no excuse, easily could have sent someone else as the replacement.

Keeping the tour in mind ... 3 ODI and 2 T20 matches.

is it worth playing a sub-par/unproven in the format player just so you don't have to pay for 1 more plane ticket?

How come you know better than our talented selectors!?

The modern thoughts on selecting squads are:

> You select players for Test on the basis of T20 performance
> You select pacers only who wants to be SRK
> You musk keep the lazy players in the squad to give a competitive total for the opponents
> A player must have a mama/kaka in BCB
> Select injured players to give a break to the fit players
> And so on...

After 82 overs. Ziaur has bowled 5 overs. What is his role in the team? Why have selectors selected him? Baffling decision.
