Yeah he played a very nice looking cover drive early in his innings. He couldn't rotate strike as easy early in his innings but he picked out a full and wide delivery and absolutely pounced on it like a true tiger. Commies were right about him being an organised player.

Thats because Ashrafool has played international cricket for over 10 years now while this is Shamsur's 2nd ever match for BD.

Although he made a low score last game he got out in the best way possible. Played a gorgeous looking sweep shot but got caught on the boundary, I like the look of this guy. Seems like a composed batsmen.

Actually, if had played it a bit better it could have gone for six.

He has played only 3 matches and I like what I see so far. I want him to play in ODI and T20 and get a few matches before a decision is made. Zia played well in his first few matches, but could not readjust once the bowlers adjusted. Can Shamsur?

Seems like a fine batsmen. 1 bad lbw decision, 1 glorious innings and another mistimed shot where he intended to clearly hit a six. Really isn't much to speculate on, but I trust him. Needs to be given a go in the ODIs as well.

give shamsur a decent run, even if anamul comes back you could keep shamsur as opener (since anamul likes the #3 spot) or put shamsur as #3. but if those guys don't work out then i would probably look to soumya, but i reckon he should be given chances in t20s first.

Agreed that Shamsur needs an extended run in the ODI and T20. Let him know that his place is safe for a few matches so that he can play without that extra pressure.

Shamsur just played two games with some mixed result but more positive than negative.... and we already trying to judge him as if we already know enough how he will develop over next year or so?

How many years we are watching a senior player like SN or Ashraful or Shahadat for example? And how come we still have hope for their progress with no track record of any significant progress over time?

On the other hand after watching few games, we can tell whether Shamsu/Monimul is ready or not or ODI meterial or not... etc etc...

I request to all, once they are in the team, please be patient with our young players....don't help selectors scew up their career ... by chopping them too early before they get enough time.

if we can give ashraful so many chances in several formats after that 190 then why not give shamshur some more chances after that performance in the 1st t20

We've established an ugly and harmful trend in what passes for our cricket culture. Namely, allowing a bunch of CLEARLY inadequate players an extended run in international cricket until their inevitable failure to sustain success at the highest level becomes obvious even to the most careless among us.

In that light, it would only be fair to have Kpa Shamsu play many more international matches until he too succumbs to the inevitable. Winning be damned!

Good knock so far! Few exceptional shot. Then again not much of feet movement just like Bijoy so fingers crossed...

I hope, when he doesn't bat at middle order again when he goes back to domestic cricket. Its not gonna help him much to open for nats for long period of time

Great knock! unlucky not to get a 100!!!

Literally shut the door for Junaid, Jahirul and SN for next couple of series.

Tamim, Shamsu and Bijoy....not a bad competition for opening given that we had none beside TIK for ages.

looked very good, selectors will surely continue with him ahead of anamul for now.

Sorry can't agree with those of you who say he has technical flaws, what I have seen from him suggests he is one of the most technically gifted batsman in Bangladesh. Just fluent and so good to watch, he is straight out of the text book to me. A real treat to the eyes!

Lot of people were not happy when he came instead of public popular Anamul.

While its not end of Anamul's career, but it turned out to be a very good decision. Now we will have competition in the opener. That's itself is a very good news for the fans regardless whether you are a Tamim fan or Anamul fan or Shamsu fan.

Kudos to selectors for making this bold and unpopular desicion.

Take that Anamul lovers, this guy is here to stay. Loved the way he took singles at ease and kept rotating the strike even after getting tired which never really allowed his SR to go down. Yeah, he may be a shaky starter but his technique and footwork is definitely a hell lot better than Mr. Glued-Feet VJ.

Exactly!!! Reading from some fans' comment I also had some pre-conceived mos-information that he may not have very good technique. But after watching last game I was confused, and now watching this game, he looked like technically better then our team average.

This game (his 2nd) he looked more confident and fluid than his first game. It just tells, we haven't seen his ceiling yet... just give him few more games, and he will shine further.... its a similar case like Momin.
