Didn't admit Nasir> Riyad
All I said that Nasir has the potential to become a good finisher. So far he showed what he has to offer, just need to be consistent at it. Riyad on the other hand is a very handy all rounder who needs also needs work on his consistency in the batting department and in my opinion he is already handy with the bowl.

On-topic: I really don't understand this mentality of ours which involves lowering one to big up the other! Why can't we appreciate that all of Nasir, Riyad, Hom or Shabbir are important to the Bangladesh plan. Riyad has definitely made an adjustment to his mindset, attitude and has a new pair of cojones. He is one of the more technically accomplished BD bats and experienced one. When on song a pleasure to watch. Nasir has the right attitude and mindset and technique is quite sound, too. But, not as good as Riyad -in my not so humble opinion. I hope he comes back better and stronger.

Riyad and Nasir have slight different roles within the BD setup as well. But, both are equally important. I want to see all of Riyad, Nasir, Hom and Sabbir playing cricket for Bangladesh all year around.

I know I'm a little late here but well played by our boys to get the win. Despite a bad start, they picked themselves up and won in a pretty dominant fashion in the end. Some of the disappointments I have to list here though.

Our top order's shot selection was very disappointing. Don't like saying this but had this been a G8 team, it'd be unlikely we'd ever recover. Tamim's temperament was so solid in the Test series, he has to maintain that in ODI's. Anamul, Mominul and Riyad's shots were also equally disappointing. They can't let the scoreboard pressure get to them. Stick to your basics, play your shots and your bound to get runs. Hope they play more tight in the 2nd ODI. That said, well done to Shakib, Mushy and Shabbir. Just goes to show how devastating they can all be when on song. We might have found our lower middle order solution in the shorter formats.

Again going back to negatives. Mash and Al-Amin were awful in the opening overs. Again if this was a G8 team, the game could've been over because of those 4 overs because their RR was at nearly 10. Better teams would continue to build on that and put us under pressure but fortunately Zimbabwe's batsmen got out after their starts.

So again well done by our players but we need to tighten up in all departments if we want to be ready for the WC and still feel we have a ways to go. Fortunately we have a lot of matches coming and we have time to rectify our mistakes

And regarding the Nasir/Riyad debate here, there is little question which batsman has performed better. Nasir is no doubt the better batsman. As for the question of why Riyad was not dropped whereas Nasir was. Well first of all, I thought the WI series was a big tour for Tamim, Riyad and Nasir since their forms were poor. Tamim and Riyad ended up performing well whereas Nasir was really out of sorts. On top of that, it's Riyad's bowling that gets him in despite his batting form. Yesterday was a perfect example of that. Had he not been there to take the wickets of Masakadza and Chakabva, this match would've been a whole lot tighter. With the combination of skills he has, he ends up playing a crucial role for us. As good as Nasir is, when he doesn't perform with the bat, which has been the case this year, he doesn't add much value. And unlike Tamim, he's not a top order batsman either, which is a lot harder to find. Look at how Shabbir played yesterday. We have to wait and see how he does, but batsmen down the order are a bit easier to find compared to all rounders and specialist top order batsmen. Hence Nasir got the chop.

Zim fielding was far bellow mediocre. They almost let Bangladesh win. I think its good captaincy by Mash.

You didn't admit it? You also probably can't see what you wrote with all that tantrum in one post, let me help.

You think Nasir is a better finisher? Cool. Dont care and wont argue as I havent seen him play a finisher role very often nor can I claim that Riyad is a better one at it.

Riyad Avgs 30, Nasir Avgs 35 playing less than half the matches. If it you makes feel better... than fine Nasir is a better candidate for the national XI Enjoy yourself!
Oops i forgot bowling... nvm wont bother.

Damm just wasted a good 15 minutes
Here you're admitting that Nasir is better batsman, bunch of times, based on only thing matter, stats and facts. And stop bring up bowling or other stuff to make a case for Riyad. This was about batting and finishing, not nothing more. And you also admitted that you haven't seen Nasir bat often. So how can you still keep arguing without watching him? So at least look at the stats. If it helps, everyone on this page said Nasir is a better finisher and overall better batsman.

As I said, Riyad was never the ideal finisher for us, selfish or not and that shouldn't be so hard for you to accept. Never said whether he's bad player or not. Take your fanboy glasses off and look at things objectively.

In terms of finishing is that even a question. Riyad can't even hit a full toss for 4, nasir made a fool of malinga and slogged his yorkers out of the park at death. Rinat you surely watched the one off t20 vs West Indies a year or 2 ago where we ended up 170-2 chasing 200 I believe.

Point is haturida must make riyad bat up the order and let nasir finish, which I believe will be the case at WC.
