I think Rubel and Taskin would have clocked 170 today (if a 7' 1" giant can clock 150). The Convicts were very lucky today. I think quite a few of them would have ended up in the ICU. Weather has been kind to them.

Having said that, we are being a little too fixated with all this speed fetish. Size and speed matters only if one knows how to use them properly. Was Glenn McGrath/Vaas a speed demon? Btw, speed is from the devil.

Whilst I agree Average speed can be misleading, especially in the short formats where bowlers use more variations, That guy wasn't balling that many slower balls, he didn't seem that fast - am suprised he got over 145

Rubel has regained some speed, he dropped a few ks last last 18m or so but you need to be bowling above 85mph in internal cricket unless line/length/swing are expertly mastered.

If we had that opening pair of Mash and Rasel from few years back with Rubel and Taskin, what an attack that would be.

Speed is from the devil... I think you should give philosphy a miss

And no one is fixated by speed, its simple, we've never had (after a young Mash) a fast bowler who is any decent and can clock over 140, now we do with Taskin and Rubel. Far too often have we had the comment that none of our bowlers have any speed

Was Glenn McGrath/Vaas a speed demon? They were guys with immense control like Mortaza (on form), he is still our best seam bowler and no one is questioning it - but watching a fast bowler like Taskin is more entertaining, same way watching Johnson bowl is more exciting than watching a vernon Philander. Everyone knows you need to be able to use speed to be good, but its more fun watching it and its more fun talking about it.

^^Thanks for the link. Been a long time since I seen Mashrafe clock 140kph. I can't remember if we've had 3 bowlers clock 140kph in the same match before.

Thought it should be embedded, lol.

But I'm going by the CI hawkeye as it has been nearly spot on accurate so far. Based on that here are the stats so far for the entire world cup:

Fastest deliveries (in mph):

Rubel = 90.7
Taskin = 89.9
Mashrafee = 87.5

WC average of fastest deliveries per match = 87.3
WC median of fastest deliveries per match = 87.8
Absolute max = 96.0

Bangladesh rank = 7th "fastest" attack in the WC

So in terms of max speed, we're not that quick, but I think we're in the top 5 based on average speed because Rubel and Taskin haven't bowled many slower deliveries and have consistently been bowling in the 85-90 mph range.

He actually did bowl a fast ball, who knew he could still do that.

yay!!! our ballers are very phast..

I would rather take Mash's 130k consistent line and length than Rubel's bowling on legs and Taskin's bouncers.

The Guardian live ball-by-ball commentary was in shock that the fastest bowler - on either side - was from Bangladesh.
