Default Sri Lanka to arrive on Feb 28

Source: The Independent

Sri Lanka will arrive in Dhaka on February 28 to play two Test and three one-day international matches with Bangladesh. Bangladesh played two away Test matches with Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh Cricket Board announced the official itinerary of the tour on Tuesday. The BCB will have to host the matches in two new venues in Dhaka and Chittagong as the two previously Test venues Bangabandhu National Stadium and MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong have been given to football.

Sri Lanka will start their Bangladesh tour campaign with one-dayer on March 3 at Dhaka. The second ODI will also take place in Dhaka on March 5. The third and final ODI will be played in Chittagong on March 8.

The first Test match will begin from March 11 at Chittagong and the second Test match in Dhaka from March 19. The Sri Lankan team will depart for home on March 24 after completing a 25-day tour.

More interestingly 2 new test venues in both Chittagong and Dhaka. But they haven't announced which stadiums will host these matches.

I take it Mirpur will be ready by then ???

Mirpur Stadium set for
int’l debut on March 3

As reported in the New Age, Sri Lanka are set to become the first international team to play one-day international and Test matches in two new venues – Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and Chittagong Divisional Stadium – when they tour Bangladesh in February-March next year.

lets create spinning wicket for them. wait.. no. then murali will screw us up. so, lets create pacer's wicket. no. wait... what about vaas?

got the idea. we'll create a wicket half pacers friendly and half spinner friendly (the line will devide the wicket vartically leaving the two batsmen in two parts). then, we just have to make sure we do not allow their bowler to bowl from whatever end they want. (ask icc for this extra advantage). the rest is no problema.

Curator of Gabba stadium made Mirpur pitches. BCB is claiming those pitches will be quite fast. But MA Aziz is probably going to be spinning as usual, especially at the last two days.

I believe New Age made a mistake- the Test venue is MA Aziz or Chittagong Stadium not Chittagong Divisional Stadium, they are two different grounds.

That is a news to me. Is the Divisional Stadium recognized by ICC as a Test venue yet? How is the pitch?

his "good record" against Sri Lanka
That is exactly what I wanted to say.

One thing I never understood is why only one player per one generation play well against Sri Lanka and others completely fail to do anything against them.

Javed Omar: the only player of his generation to do well against Sri Lanka, no matter where the game is being played.

Ashraful: the only player of his generation to do well against Sri Lanka

Saiful Islam: (the right arm pace bowler) the only player of his generation to do well against Sri Lanka

Others like Hannan Sarkar, Alok Kapali, Tapash Baisya - they all have fifties (or near fifties) against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka during 2002, but compared with our regulars at the time like Habibul Bashar, Aminul Islam, Akram Khan - who have done a very poor job the last time around.

It is just a surprise to me, until now. We just could not play together as a team against them.
