Continuing the discussion from another thread, this year's crop of new faces include the likes of Woakes, Grandhomme, Stoinis, Ferguson, Dan Christian, K Mills, et al. Woakes is one of the better performers after Stokes.

Let's look at the treatment Woakes is getting from KKR in his early days compared to Shak.

Woakes has been picked in all 9 matches so far. As a bowler he's taken 10 wickets at 26 avg and 9.4 econ rate. With the bat he's scored 31 runs at 10 avg and 88 SR. (these stats include his all round performance against RCB in which he scored 18 runs and took 3 wickets - ironically the only IPL match I've watched live so far. RCB has been in so much disarray they're consistently gifting away half their side inside 10 overs resulting in any half decent bowler taking 2-3 wicket hauls against them)

In Shak's debut season he was picked 7 times and quite randomly, which prevented him from finding rhythm with the bat. Yet he took 11 wickets at 15.9 avg and 6.8 econ rate. With the bat he avg'ed 14.5 at 130+SR.

This wasn't good enough to guarantee him a permanent spot. In 2012 he was called upon only 6 times during the regular season and did even better, winning MOM twice.

His 2014 all round contribution is considered one of the best all round performances in the IPL.

I also agree Woakes is a good player but comparing these new faces to Shak is like trying to compare Sachin Baby to Mr. Tendulkar.
Few things inspire us to soar quite like being really f***ed if we don't
