To me if somaya and mustafiz light up, whole bd team will be brighter... because somaya play fear free, which we need in the World Cup fever situation. Mustafiz don't care who's the batters, he just bowl... so we need nerve free players...tamim, sakib, musfiq are emotional players... it's depend how they react in the match on their own days ... but somaya really can give us the believe bd will be looking for on the top...go bd

Tamim
Soumya
Imrul
Mushfiq
Shakib
Riyad
Sabbir
Mosaddek
Mash
Rubel
Fizz

Riyad and Soumya should bowl few overs to lessen the pressure on Mosaddek as the fifth bowler. Don't really see the reason for taking a specialist spinner in the XI.

Yeah that looks the best squad we can have. Our so called specialist spinners- Sanjamul and Miraz are bowling crap and can't bat. So no need to include them.

No we need Miraz at number 8 for this tournament. If 8 batsman can't do it then don't blame it on your number 8 please. Someone has to score century and others support him with quickfire half centuries. Miraz shouldn't need to bat, we need offspinners as England, NZ and Australia are full of LHB. No point going with extra batsmen.

that's exactly the point. We need Miraz in the side as the specialist offspinner.

The question is ... do we see 'specialist' Miraz bowling any better than Mosa in English condition? I know its a risk not playing specialist bowler, but given our batting inconsistency ( Soumya, Sabbir, Shakib ) we rather look to batting deep, and any score less than 300 has no chance in our group.

Agreed completely. Miraz has been getting outbowled by Mosaddek since the Ireland tour. I don't have much confidence in Miraz as a specialist bowler either. That makes him redundant in the side. Better get Imrul in place of him.

Default my recommended 11

We have currently in a 'Lovely problem' situation. There are a number of contenders in some specific spots. I believe management will decide based on the opponent strength and pitch condition.

Here are my selections and the reasoning:

1) Tamim: by default opener
2) 2nd opener: Soumya or Imrul?:
Soumya is capable of quick scoring, if it's his day, we can easily go with 6+ avg on the first 20 overs. But this is also his curse for getting out. Most of his termination were by caught. His quick ability of scoring will ease Tamim on the other end to play with caution.
Imrul, on the other hand, changed his style of playing drastically since last year. He is more calm and can stay longer. The slow and calmness is good for the first stand but bad for Tamim (can make him impatient). Imrul is also a bad runner and not among the physically fittest group.
3) Sabbir : I am placing Sabbir here due to 2 reason. One he proved him already in this spot who can play pace and spin in a skillful way. Specially his solid bat action and swift movement is good for initial swing and bouncer attacks. He is good in rotating strike, but sometimes forgot to call loud and ending up runouts....
4-5) Mushfiq/shakib: To maintain a RH/LH combination, I will bring mushfiq if a LH batsman in the field and shakib if otherwise. Both proved their spots so no Q about it.
For chasing, I will bring Shakib before Mushfik.
6) Mullah: showing in form...no need to move him
7) Mosaddek: he is the most clever batsman among the bunch. I really admire his ability to score runs in a tight fielding. If we are in a bad situation after 2 down, my proposition is to bring him at number 4 to steady the innings. He is equally good in the slog overs to score runs.
8) Mehedi/Taskin: For the group stage I am seeing value of Mehedi over taskin. It's hard to predict who will be handy in a certain day.
9) Mash: he is the leader. but should allocate his quota based on the day and match situation. like 3/4 overs in the beginning, 2 overs in the middle. the rest 4 overs based on the situation.
10) Rubel:If it was Rubel from couple of years back, I would throw him out from the team. I admit, he progressed tremendously and he is an asset, specially during death overs.
11) Mustafiz: He is the FIZ.

completely agree given that the Oval is supposed to be good for spinners. We can't outbat england even if we go with 11 batsmen. What we might be able to do is out bowl them. Mosaddek is a valuable batsman who will learn his way through experience. He might be good at slowing the runrate down with his bowling at times but he will never be a wicket taking bowler like Mehedi. Plus the Joojoo of Mehedi's supposed turn in the Englishman's head might even get him some wickets

Rubel from couple of years back was excellent..., since then he's been injury prone and lost form in past year

I don't get the point of discussing Nasir anymore, he is in Bangladesh and not in the squad. Please, let's move on.

Miz sealed no. 8 spot. Now letss see who gets the nod at 3. Only one thing works in Sabbir's favour is that he is strong in back foot. If England take the bouncing us out route which they will apply more likely, Sabbr may come good

That's because the opposition targets him as he is the weak link in the spin attack
