BCB expressed interest to host Asia Cup this year again. BCCI had a meeting with the Indian Sports minister, it's unlikely they will be allowed to invite Pakistan for the cup.

Asia cup belongs to Bangladesh in terms of being the best host of it. All teams get decent support after home side.

Getting a bit boring, why not have UAE host it?

But I dont mind as long as we get the edge and if some games are hosted outside Dhaka. Get some matches at Sylhet and Khulna.

For the new 2019-2021 FTP, we will reportedly be playing India in the new Test league.

Given the 2 year cycles, my guess is WI and BD will alternate, so we will play India once every 4 years since PAK are out of the picture. Not bad. Same as before. I reckon we will be hosting vs India.

We should definitely have A-team four day matches against Afghans in January. It would help us to spot couple of new talents for our Test team before the Test matches against Lanka in February, would also help Afghans to prepare for their first official Test match(s) against Zimbabwe.

Looks like ACC Emerging Cup next April will be in jeopardy. PCB once again trying to bully their neighbors to send teams to play at Pakistan -

Quote:
Pakistan is in no mood to give up its right to host the Asia Emerging Nations Cup in April despite strong resistance from the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI). Besides India, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also objected to Pakistan hosting the tournament citing security concerns. “Pakistan was given hosting rights when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting was held in Lahore on October 29 and India and Bangladesh representatives were not present in that meeting,” a Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official said Friday. He said when the recent ACC board meeting was held last week in Dubai the Indian and Bangladesh boards made it clear that Pakistan couldn’t host the event since many teams had raised security concerns. They asked for a new venue to be finalised for the event.

Kudos to BCB for making a clear stand this time

^^ Yep. We have two more after the Test series against Lanka, in February.

Better hope Soumya will find some sort of form before all those T20I matches.

I think Soumya is gone like Alok/Raqibul

I think we've seen the last of Soumya. Our selectors don't exactly differentiate between formats. If Bijoy does well in this tri-series, he will get slotted in the T20s.

^^ Well, it may work in his favor that selectors don't differentiate between formats. DPL starting from Feb 5, few good innings there may bring him back in time for T20Is.

It won't be wrong either to go with Anam. He and Soumya both played in the same team in BPL and Anam had done much better there.

Unbelievable! Just boils my blood.

In that case, we should also send the team to Ireland along with the A team. Get acclimated to the British conditions for 2019. maybe even have another tri-series.

Wow. That is very disappointing. I wonder if it has anything to do with the tour being in the off season and in backwaters like Darwin and Cairns. Even Pakistan and SL and WI get tours to England and AUS. Somehow I think even us being a world beating side wouldn't attract sponsors in places like AUS and ENG...there must be a racial or national animus which doesn't apply to PAK and SL.

The BCB should offer to host AUS again and if that doesn't work, tour IRE for 2 Tests to get exposure to foreign conditions.

Instead of giving BCB money, why don't they use that money to cover the costs of hosting us in lieu of a sponsor?

Disappointing. BCB should counter and offer them to come to Bangladesh or have Bangladeshi sponsors for the series. If possible.

Broadcaster not interested in the series either. I guess it's not glamorous to have a full series in Darwin anyway.

Well Bangladesh are minnows who suck playing away from home.

At least it gives us an excuse to just play teams at home and work on that 3rd best W/L ratio.

Afghanistan-Bangladesh series likely in India
Quote:
ACB communicated with its alliances in India and has come to the decision of hosting Bangladesh in Dehradun for three ODIs and two T20Is.

If everything falls into place, the series will begin on June 1. However, a final decision is yet to be made by the ACB as well as the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

BCB cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan informed Dhaka Tribune that discussions are still in progress.

Nice thread, good work.

At least we are going to WI in July, and not hosting them.

Hosting sides gets you no credit. If we beat SL, no one would have cared. Fine, I will speak for myself. I really wouldn't have cared. But losing is an absolute no no at home, and it drove me insane.

In WI, all cricket fans will be ready to blame the pitch for anything. So coming off with some wins would be great for Bd, no matter who plays for WI. A series victory would be just delightful. One can only hope.

Akelmalp can also give SchoeJoan some inside info, being the agent he is.
