^^^ also, Hatura was paid really well by BCB. I dont know the terms of his contract with SLC, but it takes a lot of BS for someone to say $350,000 is not worth it anymore.

Dont think SLC will pay him as much as BCB. But when the country calls you, its hard to say no. Plus, he wasnt getting the respect he deserved from players it seems. So he left with dignity

I thought Hatura lost his respect due to his bias towards some specific players, wasn't fair when selecting the players , also he was given too much power by BCB ( he should have never been included in the selection team) ...

POwer given to him by BCB wasnt Haturu's fault. It's BCB's fault that they could not say no to him.

Wasnt fair when selecting the players, I do agree. But was getting the result. He dropped Momin and Riyad from Test team and as a result we won a test match against Australia. Thats massive.

I think he lost his respect because he was a tough coach and didnt give too much freedom to players. He wanted players to spend more time in net. And as a result many players started disliking him. Mushy ta to bolei boshlo ja hoy bhalor jonnoi hoy

In BD these decisions are made by the team management. Coach, manager, maybe some input from the captain. There is a strong precedent for idiotic decisions from coach Hathu which eventually pissed off senior players. Lets just look at the list of brilliantly idiotic things Hathu tried doing:

Giving Sabbir a Test debut before Mosaddek
Persistance of useless players like Hom
Giving Imrul the #3 position over a guy with a 45 average
Thinking Sabbir can play #3 in ODIs
Top order with 5 straight lefties vs Lyon

There is no way he was responsible for Bangladesh winning Test matches and even if he was, doesnt take a genius to know that a turning pitch at home might be a good idea if you have an attack with no pace and 3 world class spinners.

Maybe Sabbir/Soumya got extended runs (I don't think this), but thats hardly new in BD cricket. And I actually feel coaches should have some say in selection.

I never saw him as having a bias towards certain players. If anything, he was willing to challenge the status quo. Dropping our "test specialist" Mini and our "venerable veteran" Riyad was just one example of that. He could have easily kept the lineup as usual, and deflect criticism.

+ Bonus from series wins (a major share of which should have gone to the account of Cutter Master)

Yes, he must live in delusion and call Bangladesh a high-level team seeing that they're at a stupendous 9 out of 10 in the test rankings.

Sri Lanka seems to be in tatters at the moment, struggling to win a single match at home vs England, once again a reminder that coaches don't win matches it's the players that do

One of the reasons behind that is key players retiring at more or less same time and no overall back ups.

If we don't prepare early we will end up this way when key seniors retire. Difficult for a coach to handle

This is the prime reason our selectors are extremely reluctant to call back anyone past their thirties. The core of the team will retire in next 4-5 years, we need younger players to fill that void.

Also, this is why they are giving so many chances to Soumya or trying to get Momin in the ODI as well, as those two are the most likely candidates to form the mainstay of our batting sides after 4 years.

It is a flawed thinking, being successful in one format doesn't guarantee success in another format, mominul has had enough chances to show something in ODIs , it's not worth ruining his game in tests trying to turn him into a limited overs player and giving tried and tested failures too many matches instead of new talent is going to hold the young players back and suddenly we will find too much time has been spent on some of these failures without much return.

Same for Soumya, they should have tried Shadman in tests and give him a good run instead of recalling soumya for a format he hasn't done much in based on his ODI performances and a practice match

The 3 format thing should be put to the side. Young players should focus on one or two formats, then Once they establish themselves in those, if they show promise in the other at domestic level then maybe introduce them into the 3rd format.

Mominul totally defies that logic

Haturi always has his favourites and he did so under Bangladesh. The coach doesn't win you matches but he teaches the players some things.

The way Hathurusingha dropped Mathews for ODIs was shocking though , he is their best player and he got dropped according to some reason like poor running between the wicket which is amazing

I feel bad for SL. Mathews is their only world class player and Hathu dropped him. He just isn't a good fit for SL team.

Perhaps something to do with players not valuing native coach. Subcontinent teams have issues performing under their own coach. Having said that, Ravi and Kohli seems to be doing well together.

I don't think that's the case. SL players value Hathuru so much they practically lobbied for him. However, based on how Hathuru operated BD team, it's safe to say Matthews' days are numbered unless he bends at the knee.

^With the stubbornness of Haturi, SL, despite having great talents will only show fight like the England series, but will not have the results to show for. They have three tough series coming up.

Didn't Haturi resign because a #1 all rounder didn't want to play in South Africa. Now look what's happening in South Africa
