IMO, it's the right call for the management to call upon his experience for a pressure cooker match. Anam could not perform even in dead rubber matches, certainly don't want to see him in a high pressure final match.
finally someone providing some objective analysis when it comes to Imrul's performance. I never thought i'd be alive to see such a day

That's not a fact, its just your opinion. For fact check the stat. Mushfiq is good, not the best. Sakib, Tamim and Musfiq all are the core of our senior players and they played a lot and here are their stat for test and ODI

Test Average : Sakib 40, Tamim = 39, Mushfiq=35
ODI Average: Tamim 36, Sakib 35, Mushfiq 33

and the way these three are playing right now there will be further gap between Tamim/Sakib and Mushfiq in future (and that's my opinion)

Getting "life" is part of the game, everyone, over time, gets their chances. Its the end result that what's matter i.e. what you do with the chances.

Yes Tamim is starting slowly, but still have better SR than Musfiq in this series. If Tamim's SR is pathetic, how you will define Mushfiq's SR in this series. Tamim has an excuse ... i.e. starting slowly for the sake of building a platform. What excuse Rahim has except for last game. Even then (the last game) he couldn't stay long enough.

1 series is insignificant, even if against a powerhouse team like Australia, England, or India. Far more so against lower ranked sides.

Last 8 years averages across formats (all rounded up):
Tamim 38, Shakib 36, Mushfiq 35

Last 5 years:
Tamim 40, Mushfiq 38, Shakib 36

Last 3 years (since 2015 WC):
Tamim 44, Mushfiq 37, Mushfiq 36

So BAM, Mushfiq in recent times has been doing just as well as Shakib if not better. But unfortunately the problem of creating fake criticism of players doesn't just start with Roey's delirious rants. Tamim is one step above the other two, and thats obvious. But guess what, there were ill-informed people here claiming Tamim is a choker, Tamim is overrated, blah blah blah. Numbers prove otherwise. After Kohli, Warner, ABD, Tamim is probably the next best ODI batter in the past few years. Shakib has copped pointless criticism too about throwing his wicket away.

These 3 are our best batsman and by a long stretch. Its really pointless to criticize unless its constructive. Ain't noone better comin along anytime soon. We've seen how far behind Anamul, Soumya, Sabbir are.

We get bowled out for 82 and we decide to go in with one batsmen less in the next match.

^^ No, we added two decent batting options in places of walking wickets such as Anam and Nasir.

Test XI does not look that bad:

Tamim Iqbal
Imrul Kayes
Mominul Haque
Mahmudullah (capt)
Mushfiqur Rahim
Mosaddek Hossain
Liton Das (WK)
Mehidy Hassan
Taijul Islam/ Abdur Razzak
Rubel Hossain
Mustafizur Rahman

12th man: Kamrul Islam

I just hope they dont field any of the following players: Nayeem Hasan, Sunzamul Islam, Tanbir Hayder

ya ,looks good on paper, with Sakib it will look great, but Rubel may be the only weak link.
Eventhough he has shown good form in ODIs lately but he is a different bowler in Test
Rabbi could be a better choice.

Dinraat graciously rejects this offer, he says he will replace Mushy instead, but BCB said he is a bit taller than what the position demands.

The specialist batsmen with 1 test century to his name, despite playing 66 innings, is not only batting in the pivotal 4th but also gets to captain this side.

None of you see that as a problem?

Go ahead Mullah, lead from the back as always.

only reason i'll probably watch this is to see riyad captain. very good captain in bpl. should be a big diff between him and mushy in test.

but batting-wise, 30 avg is just not good enough these days.

Riyad's debut test captaincy was a little bit disappointing to say the least.

Like it or not, We have to persist with Imrul Kayes (tests, ODI etc) until Saif Hassan matures up and lights up domestics even more.
