^^it says 'moved', not deleted or removed. Hopefully just got relocated accidentally. And I am sure the admins will fix it.
Maybe by mistake it got moved. Maybe admins were moving Brockley's cricket related thread from there to the cricket section and somehow the government survey thread got moved instead.

Isn’t there a new law in BD that penalises people for expressing negative views about the government? Read something along those lines a month or two ago. It maybe that the thread got removed for that reason? Imagine someone saying/spreading some nasty things about the current governament, BC could easily be shutdown?

Question

Why do almost ALL Bengali wedding films have Indian songs?

Never saw/or think a indian/Pakistani/sri lankan wedding film would have Bangla songs?

^ I don't know.

Why do Bengali muslims pray in arabic, I don't see any muslims from arab speaking countries praying in Bengali?

Lol. My point is, all of this language pride thing is overblown. Languages change, languages intermingle. Yes, in Bd's history, language played a big role, and that should be applauded. But speaking Bengali does not make you a true Bengali. It is the knowledge of your country and your achievements for your country that is the real testament of your patriotism.

All Muslims pray in Arabic, irrespective of what language they speak.

My point was what is the reason behind most of us Bangladeshis wedding having indian songs? nothing to do with patriotism, just asking why.

It is very odd, as like say Pakistani/Indian/Sri Lankan would never use or celebrate their occasion with Bengali songs, be it in the wedding film or blasting Indian songs in wedding hall/cars etc.

Right. And most south asian countries watch Bollywood. Hence the songs act as a common reference point for celebration. For most of the masses, movie is a bigger form of entertainment than music. The concept of just music doesn't have as much of an appeal as music, dance and drama combined into one. Again, I am talking about the masses.

Yes. But it is no more odd than those Arabic countries not praying in Bengali. And yet a Bengali should go out of his way to pray in Arabic?

I actually think it is not odd at all, and like I said, because languages exert influence and they change over time, it means nothing in the end of the day. But if you are going to question the oddity of something, I think you should analyze other situations applying the same logic.

Bhai please don't question arabic's relevance to BD. It's not polite. I mean you certainly won't see any of us bhodrolok doing that.

Not sure what you mean by Arabic countries not praying in Bengali? The Quran is in Arabic, has nothing to do with the language. We recite Surah from the Quran in our prayers, as it’s compulsory (if you don’t know Arabic, it’s highly recommended to learn, atleast Surah Fatiha) We have no choice here. Doesn’t matter if you are Arabian, Turkish, Iranian, Bangladeshi etc, they all will recite in Arabic.

But in regards to wedding films/halls/cars playing Indian songs etc, we have a choice. It’s not compulsory like the prayer. Also Jewish people pray in Hebrew irrespective of what language they speak.

^ What is compulsory to you may not be to others. Entertainment can be more compulsory than prayer in fact, depends who you talk to. I try not to judge.
