Someone should really have a word with him. WTF is wrong with is guy? Constantly bowling short. One after another. Why isn't he bowling any yorker? i think i have just seen once to do that in the whole tournament so far. Enough of that injury excuse. How many more time does he need? Seems like just going through motions.

Initial spell was crucial 2 for 4 was sensational. Even conceding 2-8 and we probably would have lost this game.

His speed is back to what it used to be. Bowling has been much much better. But needs discipline and planning. Seems like he hasn't been outthinking the batsmen lately. Needs a good mentor.

The one he got a nick off was a beauty. Unplayable. Commentator blamed it on the batsman I remember, I disagree. That was a killer delivery, batsman had to have a go at it.

he really needs to learn swining the ball for god sake, he is too predictable with his cutters these days. can't belive he gave 21 runs in
a over after he started so well. The guy need serious advice from bowling coach so that not get complacent after having one or two good overs.

He is again bowling away from the stumps. Also he is not using cutters too often. He has also learnt from other bowlers the bad habit of bowling short hit me bouncers.

Default Fizz

Let's see what Fizz's strengths are:
1) Varying pace, well-disguised
2) Natural swing/angle (away swing for RH)
3) Cutters/slowers
4) Yorkers (to some extent)
5) Easy run-up+action, so he can change his delivery at the last moment

He doesn't bowl with lot of pace, nor he seems threatening to the batsman by his physique/attitude/action/runup as a pacer. So, his bouncers are obviously less effective. He is supposed to be a wicket-to-wicket bowler (as he cannot swing both ways yet) with his stock deliveries to be away swingers to a RH (just like the ball that got Shanaka out), cutters and yorkers in LOI cricket.

If he is opening bowling to a RH batsman, that's how I would bowl :

1st: Stock delivery, away swing (5-10 inches outside off-stamp)
2nd: Faster stock delivery, in-swing (on off-stump)
3rd: Cutter (on stump)
4th: Yorker
5th: Back to stock delivery
6th: Cutter/slower/proper bouncer (high pace with on target)

Now, in LOI cricket, especially in T20, most batsmen want to get runs from the very 1st ball. So, you need to be aware of your opponent batsman's strength+weakness (homework), pitch+weather condition, field settings and match situation. You also need to get involved with your captain if you need any field adjustments (Fizz doesn't do it).

Nowadays, we don't see Fizz bowl that many of stocks or cutters. He bowls lot of short-pitched balls, wide deliveries etc. The basic would still work in T20 if he starts thinking again. Moreover, the slowers are not as effective as they were in the beginning.

Wasim Akram would be a gr8 mentor for him. BAN may want to invest in him by bringing the legend for a short haul for all our LH pacers (Fizz, Rony etc.).

I rest my case.

That 18th over was one of the gutsiest over I have ever seen from Bangladeshi player. It was beautiful. I hope the fans don't forget it.

Fizz has been getting a lot of flak for not performing like he used to, but that over should restore a lot of faith from the fans. Fizz is the future!

He's ordinary. Hasn't been the same since his injury. Maybe all that money he's made from the IPL demotivated him. That's the problem with Bangladeshi players – no passion!!!

He'll be an average to decent T20 bowler.

He'll continue to be a superb ODI bowler as he showed in the recent Tri series. He will also be a superb home Test bowler. Will need to work on his bowling in away Tests.

This was such a beautiful over from Mustafizur, commentary from Cricinfo:

Quote:
India need 35 runs off 18 balls in the final. And it's Mustafizur again. His cutters are going to be incredibly difficult to negotiate under this much pressure. Third man and fine leg are up, which means it will all be slower balls

Mustafizur Rahman to Shankar, no run, swings wildly and the back of a length ball outside off goes away unpunished

17.2

Mustafizur Rahman to Shankar, no run, good length ball outside off, Shankar looks to punch it through the covers, but the offcut beats him again. Outrageous skill from Mustafizur

17.3

Mustafizur Rahman to Shankar, no run, full and outside off, it grips in the pitch and darts sharply past Shankar's swishing bat. He's not happy it's not been called a wide

17.4

Mustafizur Rahman to Shankar, no run, full and outside off, goes for the slice behind point, and is again beaten. Four balls, each time beaten. Mustafizur is on the cusp of bowling a maiden in the 18th over a final! What a talent!

17.5

Mustafizur Rahman to Shankar, 1 leg bye, strikes him on the body as he shuffles across and looks to swing it over the leg side. Pandey gets his partner through for a leg bye

17.6

Mustafizur Rahman to Pandey, OUT, taken at long-on! What an over from Mustafizur! He's the game-breaker! Continues bowling full and wide outside off. Pandey does manage to get bat to it, but his slog has no timing. Wicket maiden from Mustafizur in the 18th over
MK Pandey c Sabbir Rahman b Mustafizur Rahman 28 (27b 3x4 0x6) SR: 103.70

Ditto. Hopefully, he will be warming the bench in most matches in IPL.

Stop pretending
Deep inside you want him to play like in his first Ipl season

not so sure about that. these 6 deliveries were absolute peach. it was gripping. other batsmen maybe would have dabbed them for singles at best.

Fizz is bowling close to his back old days. I dont know why people criticize him still. Cannot deliver every match can he? His cutters are back in full flow and pace is up too. Remember he comes at the death and bowls crucial overs. Lower your expectation. I have seen too many bowlers fading away after great starts but credit to Fizz for working hard. The legend in the making. Just look at his average/SR in any format.

So proud of him! He is from some other planet! Bowled the 16th and 19th over when the other team was cruising and went for 4 runs off 2 overs taking 2 wickets! Take a bow son!!
