no based on how they are improving. they just entered in the test arena and already have players like Zardan,Rashid,Nabi,Mujib etc. if we look at our history at the early test stage the only notable players we had the inconsistent hacks like AAA and a Mashrafee

Can't disagree with this. I personally am a fan of team nepal, not so off team AFG.

None... in the sense that if they win at all, non of these current players will be playing at that time... in top of that none of us will be still breathing to see that in our on eyes.

Without any bias. Bangladesh, if they get a plan together maybe somehow get Heath back as coach even. Have a outside chance at the 2023 WC, as one of the 3favs. IMO. It will be played in the subcontinent. And most of these players like Sabbir, Soumya, Liton, Fizz, Taskin, will at their peaks. Youngsters like Miraz, Afif, Zakir Hasan, will be more advanced by then. And Seniors Tamim, Shakib and Mushy maybe be around. Which will be like how SL legends carried on to guide the rest to good things.

Yeah but a 7 wicket thrashing against Scotland isn't an improvement is it? Losing a series to Ireland in Asian conditions is also not really an improvement. Losing to UAE in the last Asia Cup qualifiers is again not a huge improvement. Losing to Nepal in the 2014 WT20 isn't much of an improvement either.

In 2003 Bangladesh also lost to Canada and Kenya, but in 2005 we beat Australia. In 2010 we lost to the Netherlands but whitewashed New Zealand who made the world cup semis just 5 months later. In 2014 we lost to Hong Kong but in 2015 we beat England (and India, and South Africa).

Another example is Kenya going to the 2003 WC semi-finals, which Bangladesh has never done. But Kenya managed that due to a forfeiture or two, and basically just won 2 games against big teams. Bangladesh did that in 2007.

Following this poll, here a few ideas for the next polls BC should run. Perhaps Zeeshan can post some in FC:

Who will seal a 2019 World Cup Final slot first: Bangladesh or India?

Who will release a rap album first: Rifat or Future?

Who will get married first: al Furqaan or al Furqaan's son?

Who will get rid of their nukes first: Kim Jong Un or Donald Trump?

Afghans may well be back from the dead.

They need a Nepal win over HK. Nepal would have had to win by 200+ runs to jump past both HK and AFG, but because they are batting second they have virtually no chance.

NEP would have to bowl HK out for 50 and then chase it in 3 overs to pass AFG on NRR.

HK 106-6 now...so NEP are eliminated but would like to win vs a ODI side and also push AFG through to the Super 6.

Looks like AFG still have a shot at winning the 2019 World Cup before Bangladesh!

In Sub-cont culture, It depends on your Icon players to win WC or other ICC Trophies for you.
If your Icon players (shakib, tamim, mushfiq , taskin etc) wont do it, i doubt that your next gen of players will do it for you.

If Taskin is an icon then... Mustafiz must be a legend already. Time to retire.

Watch out everyone, Afghanistan are coming to win the world cup (through the qualifiers first).

I personally think it's going to be tough for both of these teams to win anytime soon, even teams like South Africa, England and New Zealand have never won the real 50 overs world cup.

Afghanistan annhilate the mighty West Indies!

I think they have now eclipsed (see what I did there?) India/Australia as the #1 ranked ODI team in the world!

Nepal - best team in Asia, Afghanistan best in the world.

I don't see any chance of Afghanistan to win the ODI WC in recent times. However, the picture is different in T20s. They have a few very good finds in T20. If they can hold onto them for 5-7 years, they will get a good team. I don't see any batting talent but in T20 you won't need that anyway. In Test cricket, they are not anywhere yet.
I should add that 20 years is a big time. I don't know how ICC or cricket would be. 20 years back WI used to be a great team and Bangladesh didn't play an Test cricket at all. Afghanistan didn't even have a team. So, guys please predict with a caution.

A solitary win in the group stage and they are stil favorites now to qualify for the WC - barring the weather.

I want to change my vote now.

AFG will absolutely win the WC before Bangladesh and here's how:

ICC will award AFG sole hosting rights for the 2027 WC. No team will actually show up, and AFG will win every single game by a walkover ---> World Champions.

Is this a serious thread? We are talking about Afghans winning the World Cup? While we are at it, why not predict if Bhutan will win World Cup Football before Holland?

TBH dont really care If afgan wins a WC or not. I only care if we win a WC and We will not win a WC in any of these forum member's lifetime. I think we can safely say more than 50 years.

I think I said this couple of times in this thread. I will say I told you to all of you guys in the after life dont worry

I will rule out the theory of BD not winning a WC in any of the current member's lifetime.

The reason for this being is that I feel that the modern game is becoming so unpredictable that it can be translated into results.
Who knows that within the next five years BD finds five more Mustafizur, all world class bowlers. You need to start somewhere. Hunting in packs.

Only a couple of matches you get to play in a world cup. Bowling is what will win you championships.
