When are we playing Afghanistan this year? Has it been confirmed?

setting up a date with Afghanistan is like a trap. There’s absolute nothing to gain but a lot to lose.
I guess when you can’t fill the schedule, you end up setting traps for yourself.

Nothing wrong with playing Afghanistan.
As of yet to get confirmation on Australia pulling the plug on Bangladesh.
An article would be appreciated, even tho late it would be.

The gap between Afghanistan and Bangladesh is not much in ODI format. In my opinion, Afghanistan is a better team in T20 than Bangladesh

so that logic entails that the Aussies could not have played anyone for nearly a decade when they were head and shoulders better than the #2 ranked side.

I don't see the fanfare of Bangladesh playing Afghanistan, what they are doing is helping in the development of the game.
2nd they are on the lower end of the scale,Bangladesh.
Should be a good series.

My comment was specific to Bangladesh. If Steve Waugh’s Aussies lost to Tendu & co it won’t make any difference.
it comes down to respect. Bangladesh despite the progress are not respected in the boy’s club.
Minnow to giant killers to upsetters to home tigers, but never really... equals.
An opposing captain prefaces BD as “dangerous on their day” before a match. They never say that about Pak or WI even tho BD is supposedly ahead.
Anything other than a clean sweep of Zim, Ire, Scotland, Afg, Nepal would bring back ALL those doubting BD as a respectable cricket franchise.
So to your point, you can never really go into playing AFG as just another game as Ind vs Aus.
BD loses, it becomes the butt of all jokes. The mockery, the humiliation becomes ten fold.
A 100 run defeat against Aus for BD and nobody will panick. It’s part of the plan.
A 5 run defeat against Afg for BD would require a few people to lose their place in the team, a coaching change and selector sweep.

Refusing to play minnows won't earn that respect either.

If Bangladesh come 2 Darwin the pitches are very much spin friendly.
Cairns is more a pacer's pitch.

Aus pitches are bouncy and flat, bowlers need to have the height (6'2 ft +) and pace to be successful there. You really want to see records tumbling as Warne and co smack our 130k trundlers all over the stadium? Or see the like of Kayes trying to pull every bouncer as catch practice?

There is literally nothing exciting for the whole year. Just bottom dweller matches.
Only thing to look forward to is the Asia Cup.
Even if we go to Aus, they will send some local scrubs like they did that one time.
India is sending their scrubs for this T20 series so yea.
I’m just sad there won’t be much excitement around this forum for a long long time.

No I am looking forward, to see Bangladesh play in my home soil(Australia).
Something that I have never seen before.
Winning or losing is irrelevant, the experience will be good enough

Wasn't there supposed to be an academy tour in Sri Lanka this month?
