With the situation of current team, considering venue mostly unfamiliar to the players - very little chance for BD to win even group stage

Same was said before CT2017, English conditions and the toughest group possible yet we did well.

If the Bangladesh team doesn't play well it doesn't matter where we play even at home we will end up losing to Hong Kong like in 2014 but if they play well they may even reach the finals. India is coming from a long hard tour of England and will not have their captain as well.

Point taken but the injury situation is quite demoralizing for players/fans alike.

We are at disadvantage.

An unfair disadvantage

Sports Reporter
“I am hoping that I will be able to play from the first match. I am more concerned about my practice as it's been a long time since I have batted. I don't know about the exact condition of my injured finger as I have to know how much pain there is and how much I will be able to do. So for that I need to bat.

...Tamim Iqbal

Even before a ball has been bowled in the Asia Cup, the Bangladesh team have been considerably disadvantaged due to what can only be called mismanagement.

Most of the Bangladesh squad reached Dubai on Sunday to prepare for their tournament opener against Sri Lanka on September 15. But two of the most important members of the team -- opening batsman Tamim Iqbal and fast bowler Rubel Hossain -- are still in Dhaka as they were yet to receive their UAE visas.

They both cleared. Rubel left this morning and Tamim this noon (our time).

Players are more worried about the heat, internal travel and nonsensical schedule produced by ACC

IF WE QUALIFY, we will play the next day after the qualification. We may have to travel as well from Abu Dhabi to Dubai.

As such, the Board of Control for Cricket in India are the home board and it is understood that it is the host nation's responsibility to take care of the logistics and liaise with the concerned government to ensure the smooth arrival of the squads and to stage the tournament according to ACC guidelines.
There. Found your devil.

Well am not surprised. Imagine playing a game today. Go back to hotel, pack up everything and head to the airport to travel to another city to play a game next day. ACC did a poopie with the schedule this time around. Traveling is stressful.

So cricinfo saying shanto was taken as an opening option and not first choice with mominul in there as a top order candidate and mithun as a middle lower order hitter.

Sounds like ariful is behind mithun in the pecking order. Mosa losing favour due to lack of big hits in previous innings.

Strange. I thought Shanto is a middle-order batsman. If it was up to me I'd pick the batting order like- Liton, Mithun, Shanto/ Shakib, Shakib/Shanto, Mushfiq, Riyad, ....

Maybe selectors want a left-right combination for the opening pair, hence Shanto/Monimul is preferred in the place of Tamim

He’s mainly been a number 3, but also batted at 4/5 sometimes and in the last few matches (think it was 3) of the most recent DPL he opened but he hit a couple of tons and a 50 I think so he’s being classified as an opener now.

Would not be surprised if in the next match mithun opens with liton.

very excited for Sri Lanka and Afghanistan match. Afghanistan is my second favorite team... I want nothing but humiliation for Sri Lanka. should be cracker of a match. The loser of this match will very likely face an early exit from Asia cup unless Afghanistan thrashes Bangladesh by some astronomical Margin...

Shanto was sent as an opener in the warm up match before the ODI series in the Caribbeans. Also, read this interview:

I think so.. at least I know I am going to get guaranteed quick 25 runs. With Shanto - its gonna be a surprise.

Dont think you get 25 guaranteed runs if they played and you add the scores of those 3 losers
