Bangladesh A restrict Antigua to 180 all out

SPORTS REPORTER

Bangladesh A bowlers restricted Antigua for 180 in their fifth limited over match of the tour on Sunday at the Whitgift School, Croydon.

The local county club elected to bat first but did not cope with the visiting bowlers as they bundled out for 180, according to a message received here.

The slow bowlers did the prime task to give their batsmen a chance for a successful chase in the match.

Left arm spinner Abdur Razzak Raz and Mehrab Hossain (Jr) took two wickets each.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and England Cricket Board (ECB) arranged the additional match to make up loss of the rain interrupted matches during the second string side's visit.

Shahriar Nafis men will play the last three day match against Kent from August 16-18 at Canterbury before returning home on August 21.

It's not a good performance by BD-A, true.

But, in the interests of accuracy, let's emphasize that Antigua is not a "County" team. Antigua (more properly, Antigua and Barbuda) is an independent nation, one of the several states (like Barbados, Guyana, and Jamaica) that make up the West Indies. Calling them a county team is rather like referring to the Bangladesh team as a South Asian district team.

Skipper Shahriar Nafees top scored with 36 while Mushfiqur Rahman (27), Mehrab Hossain Jr (23), Nazimuddin (19) and Alok Kapali (18) were the other noted contributors.

Finally we have found a good reason not to send Tusher to the national test team. Our A team would become a punching bag. Someone send this info to Atahar Ali.
