Manjurul is in ODI squad
With the performence in the practice match, Manjurul Islam Rana got the call in the first ODI squad.
Lets hope he does not turn into another Enamul.

Welcome back! One of the heroes. He also got some positive comments from australians when he was down under.
Oh yesterday's man. Wrong person, i thought monju was back.

As far as I know, Manjurul Islam Rana went to U.K. for some kind of training; Was he a member of the Bangladesh U-19 that went to Australia before the U-19 WC?

This is Rana, not the pacer Manjurul Islam who got axed by Whatmore for not wanting to "get the ball past the bat" enough. Is Rana an offspinner?
It seems in a week since I was last here Bangladesh have fallen off a cliff: U-19s disgraced; test team thrashed; Masri's leg in a familiar cast. I was almost expecting AL and BNP would announce separate national teams for the one day series (BNP with only City Club youngsters as per previous posts on this board).
Our selectors and some of the posts on this board are on the same wavelength: chop, drop, axe until some Messiah-like cricketer in diapers walks in to save the day. What happened to the rave reviews for Mushfiq? The variation of flight magic of Enamul (is it his fault he was picked for the wrong kind of wicket in chittagong) ? The cheering for Nafees when he smashed the "ordinary" english bowling? Moniruzzaman? Aftab? Jamaluddin, whoever he is? Here today, gone tomorrow.
Because there is no reliable domestic cricket (please don't start with whoever has scored most runs last year, that is truly meaningless in the test arena), they use the touring practise matches and even the test/odi matches to find new players. Until that is fixed, we won't have a stable team.
In the meantime, I am just going to take a deep breath and chill.

Rafiq, Thank you for your forceful voice of reason. I've been trying to say something positive for a while, but the wave of negativity has been overwhelming.

What do you mean he doesn't turn out to be another Enamul? He is a test player... not an ODI player. Bangladesh must stop the stupidity of thinking a test player must also play ODI and vice versa.

Rafiq bhai,
Thank you. After reading some of the posts on this board (fire Sujon, is Javed's career over? drop Kapali etc etc) I was about to write an article for the main page about the need for continuity. After a couple of paras, I figured, why bother? Fans are fickle and everytime we lose, everyone will want to find a scapegoat. I just dont know how we can ever hope to improve if we constantly keep changing our team! In every practice match, we pick an entirely different side, and of course someone scores a 40 or 50 odd and all of a sudden, that person is good enough to be in the Test team! Absolutely ridiculous.

Truly, in Bangladesh everyone gets a chance to be famous for 15 minutes.
