Default Match thread Ind vs Zim (sep 13-17)

Test # 1765
India in Zimbabwe, 2005-06, 1st Test
Zimbabwe v India
Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo
13,14,15,16,17 September 2005 (5-day match)
-------------------------------------------
As the mighty Indians plans a swift death to the minnows Zimbabwe on the 1st test, the Zimbabwe with fresh new blood has other ideas. They had a debut openner T Duffin making 56. Their 1st six batsmen all scored in double figures. Currently Taibu is batting at 44. They made 200 in 74.1 overs. Pathan, Z khan and Kumble all have 2 wickets each.

1st Day belongs to Zim. 267/7 great total considering the NZ thumping recently.

Ganguly, was so afraid of getting punished again on the slow over rate that he had his boys bowling 93 overs. That was on top of the 20 no-balls and 1 wide. India may have their hands full on this one. Well done Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe 279 (IK Pathan 5 wickets)

India 554 (Laxman 140, Ganguly 101)

52/5 (IK Pathan - 4 wickets, Zaheer Khan 1 Wicket)

Zimbabwe trail by 223 runs with 5 wickets remaining.

Ganguly played himself in for a good knock. Nothing fancy, took 254 balls, but atleast stayed in the wicket as he always does against minnows

Guezz Zimbo's will go into attacking mode now.

Match State: Stumps - Day 3
17.2 Harbhajan Singh to Coventry, OUT: turning in from outside the off stump, Coventry had to reach out for it, ends up turning it straight Gambhir at short leg and that's wicket number 200 for
Harbhajan Singh

Zimbabwe 67/6,

T Taibu 30* (43b 5x4) Harbhajan Singh 2.2-0-14-1 (1w)

Harbhajan now becomes the fastest Indian bowler to reach 200 Test wickets - what an achievement
and with that it's stumps on day three
Zimbabwe trail by 208 runs with 4 wickets remaining

Great display by the Indian bowlers. first score 32 in 4 dying overs. then ripped the Zim top and middle order. Ganguly did his job. This should bring some much needed confidence. Captain made sure Zim suffer.

Taibu: can't say enough on this kid. I thought they were thrusting this kid into test cricket captainy too early. He is the man, leading by example. It has become a "one man show" for the zimbabwe team.

Tomorrow, i predict the Indians would finish the game in the first session. They will use up a well deserved rest and 5th day shopping.

Yes, and Heath Streak got a first ball duck - like our Ashraful. Amazing to see what mental strength means to even great players like Streak - when he faces Bangladesh, he scores 80 odd, or even a century, and when he faces India, he scores 20 odd and a duck!

I followed this test because of love of Zim and to judge how much they are improving. Well I am lost in their batting ability just like I feel when a BD team bats. I guess expect the unexpected.

1st innings, their 1st 6 batsmen made double figures and out of the last 5 only 1 crossed 5.

2nd innings, it was a total opposite. The last 5 made double figures and out of the 1st 6 only 1crossed 5.

Pathan and Taibu proves themselves again that they are top world class.
