Here is CNN link about the Earthquake.

http://edition.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/as...tan/index.html

link will probably change tomorrow, but anyone can search cnn's site and find it.

To Dosadeel:
This killed as many people as in New Orleans so far. Many dead in your capital of Islamabad. I hope you and your family are ok. I send you best wishes that everyone you know is ok brother.

Mother Nature can be very cruel. Vancouver is on a fault line here too, and we are all anxiously waiting for what the scientists say will be the BIG ONE.

Again, good luck, and I hope all your family is safe.

Default S Asia quake images

BBC: A powerful earthquake has rocked India, Afghanistan and Pakistan and thousands are feared dead.

BBC: Whole villages have been flattened in Indian and Pakistani-administered Kashmir, and hundreds of people are feared dead.

I would like to express my deepest sympathy to all the victims of the earthquake.May God be with them.

Thanks whiteguy. My family lives in karachi. I talked to them today, and they're fine. Karachi is way south, so they didn't even feel any aftershocks.

But yeah, its pretty bad there in and around Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Muzafarabad, and other parts of kashmir. 18,000 is the latest death toll, according to BBC.

Pakistan says more than 18,000 have been killed by Saturday's powerful earthquake that also hit northern India and Afghanistan. The 7.6-magnitude quake, with an epicentre 80km (50 miles) north-east of Islamabad, flattened entire villages. Another 40,000 people are believed to be injured, said military spokesman Major-General Shaukat Sultan.

May Allah grant Jannnah to the victims, and give sabr/patience to their families and relatives.

Also, an opportunity for us to donate and earn rewards during the month of Ramadhan.

"Islamic Relief has three full-time offices near the earthquake-affected areas in Islamabad, Neelum Valley, and Muzaffarabad. Our staff is on the ground conducting a needs-assessment. Islamic Relief staff in Pakistan are participating in coordinating meetings with the United Nations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) on the ground, and government officials."

Living in Antartica u've no idea that bangladesh along with india, pakistan & afganistan also jolted in the earthquake.

like the previous deadly tsunami which swept many neighbouring countries bangladesh once again escaped without any casualty by sheer miracle ,kind mother-nature or any devine intervention .

I am really happy your family is ok. 18,000 people, that is absurd. It seems like there sure is an increase in Natural Phenomena lately. Lets value each day we are here as a gift. I have to talk to my brother-in-law halve his buddies are from Pakistan. And my old college brother Luqman, his phone is busy all day long. He's probably trying to reach family.

tiger_man,

you live in antarctica for real? holy quackamolie! i thought it was just a joke!

man u gotta tell me how life in antarctica is...especially the weather and all about the natural beauty...

i was talking to a friend today...she was telling me she wanted to go to alaska for work since it gets hot down here in the summer (she was obviously joking)...but seemed like she knows a lot about alaska...and then she showed me some pics and we had a long chat and it turns out that alaska is not all about the cold and dullness...in fact it's more like a heaven on earth! never knew that...

anyways...sorry for straying off the path...

18000 people is a lot...i really feel bad for all those who lost their lives and families...

these earthquakes are scary...and they sound even more sickening because my family lives down there (in bangladesh, i.e.)

the latest death toll is over 20,000. its mind boggling. if 200 ppl die in the US (new orleans) it becomes the story of the decade. i cant imagine 20,000.

Extremely tragic event, may Allah grant all the deceased paradise and give strength to the survivors.

Unfortunately, a lot of the areas are inaccessible because roads are blocked and people are dying in the ruins. Its a huge test from Allah
