It is very hard to say who will win.

I consider AUS and IND as World#1 and #2.

Both has 50-50 chance. It will be delightful to watch the finals.

I want the following things to happen in the final matches

1. Century for Ganguly, Gavaskar and Tendulkar

2. Lee should give 70 runs per match

3. Pathan will take again 4 wkts.

So u can guess who am I supporting

Love to see India wins the VB final. This monopoly Aussie dominence in world cricket should be given an end. I admit that there are lotsa "but's" and "if's" for Indian win, but I am still hopefull. I even stand for pakis to see the victory against Australia.

Head-to-head the aussies are still #1. India does not have the bowling firepower to consistently trouble the Aussies enough to be considered superior or even equal.

Perhaps on docile sub-continental pitches the Aussie pace power can be dampened a bit.

On the batting side, I would put them about equal. Both countries have tremendous depth and a huge talent pool to draw on.

India is hurting from not having real world class attacks - all they have are the agarkars, pathans and nehras.

Remember McWarne were missing.

On the flip side, the Aussie team is aging and the Indian team is young. With the current confidence building tour perhaps they will win a series outside of the sub-continent. Until they do so - they will always be the also rans.

Of course don't forget the Springboks. Solid batting. Kallis is back. Ntini now has been able to take over the mantle once worn by Donald. They still remain a force to reckon with.

My speculative ranking based on current form (ignoring historical results).

Speaking only of tests...

Australia
India
South Africa
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
Pakistan
England
West Indies
Zimbabwe
Bangladesh

Cheers,
Zunaid

Default Zunaid bhai! I like your ranking

but here is mine

Australia
India
South Africa
Pakistan
New Zealand
Sri Lanka
England
West Indies
Zimbabwe
Bangladesh

Pakistan has beaten South Africa is a test series as well as NZ at home in a test series (this after NZ drew with Indians in their backyard). SO I rank the current Pakistan team above sri lanka and NZ- talent-wise and performance-wise. But otherwise I completely agree with the rest of your ranking.

I had trouble figuring out where to put Pakistan in my ranking. On a good day they can beat anyone. One another day anyone can beat them.

They have oodles of talent but ... internal politics/strife/tempermanent call it what you will .. always makes them hard to peg.

Cheers,
Zunaid
