Default ICC ODI Championship

ICC has started the ICC ODI championship which bases on last 3 year. It has a complex rating system, but does make sense and I like it.

BD ranks bottom (of course).

Check it out, click here.

If BD wins one ODI against WI, we get 101 points and makes our rating 17 (still behind Kanya's rating of 22). 2 ODi win will make our rating 23 over Kenya.

Can we do it?

I wish!!!!

We are ranked below Kenya. How sad is that?

I am not 100% sure how the ranking works. But I think we play more ODIs and we loose, whereas Kenya plays less. This probably goes against us.

Only way to stop this debate of Kenya being better than us is the WC03. We will, God willing, beat Kenya comprehensively (at least I hope ).

Default *sigh*

I wrote few days back that we need to play Knya before the World Cup to sort out the quesiton of who is really better. Why ? I'd rather have the two teams fight it out in a one day series where the pressure will be less then the single world cup match.

We have seen that our players don't cope well with pressure, so having to play Kenya (being the test team) in the World cup, they will not only have our expectations as a burden, they will also have the TEST status on their shoulder.

The only way out of it is with a win. Pressure or not, we need to be on top cause if we can't handle that, what good is having a status ?

PS. I think with a 'fully fit' line up, Bangladesh can beat Kenya any day.

Tehsin bhai, I am not at all convinced that we can beat Kenya any day with a fully fit side. If Tikolo gets amongst the runs, we are really going to struggle. We should beat Kenya, and I think we will, but 'any day' sounds like we are clearly a better side and I don't really think that we are.

This ranking has nothing to do with if we can beat kenya or not. Even if we beat Kenya, and get 2 other wins, we will still rank below Kenya.

However, If we beat WI in 2 ODi, we will rank above Kenya, but thats fantasy.

As for the WC match, I know BD will win against Kenya, but Kenya will still rank above us.

Bangladesh 58 matches - 3 wins
Kenya 49 matches - 8 wins

Bd - Kenya head to head : Kenya is up 5-1

No one should be surprised that Kenya is ranked ahead of us.

Only the 10 test teams and Kenya has ODi status.

Playing other teams wont effect the rating.

Default Reality

Well, I am not going to repeat this often but here goes -
Kenya has 3/4 players in the team that you can look at and know almost for sure that at least one of them will score a big hundred against us to bury us. Tikolo is one of them, let's not forget Otieno, Ravindu Shah and good old Odumbe. Fortunately for them, their bowlers don't have to work too hard to get our batsmen to hand them their wickets.

I sure hope that this does not happen and our players play with purpose. Otherwise, we will be screwed.
